19 targets, 17 receptions... 89%

I know he gets a lot of short looks but this is impressive. Bess is tied for 10th in receptions but only 37th in targets after three games. This percentage will not continue but if you project Bess' totals over 16 games he is on pace to catch 90 balls. Before the season started I posted a link to rotoworld claiming Bess to be a dark horse to lead the NFL in receptions. Again, dark horse.

I am not sure what Henne's play will mean for Bess. Certainly, Pennington's lack of arm strength meant shorter passes and thus more looks for Bess. But opposing defenses also keyed on that. Perhaps Henne's arm strength will keep defenses honest and open up passes underneath? Perhaps our coaching staff will limit the number of balls Henne throws and Bess' numbers suffer? One thing is clear though, if you get the ball near Bess he is going to catch it most of the time.

Bess is a keeper a true keeper he could find playing time on any franchise - the other guys - not so much...

With a new, young QB teams are going to blitz a lot and force Henne to make quick decisions. This will result in a lot of short passes..... Bess, Fasano, and the RB's should see a lot of passes early in the Henne era.

He's on pace to catch 90 passes for 746 yards, at this pace he would need 121 catches to gain 1,000 yards. For all the flack Ginn gets about not making any big plays I just find it a little funny that he is the only one mentioned. NOBODY has made any big plays for us on offense. Even Ronnie who has been running like a man possesed and has a Very good average hasn't broke anything yet. Part of this could be because of Pennington and how he was unwilling to throw downfield and part of it has to be coaching/playcalling.

What a surprise Bess has been. The kid plays with Hunger. Has the quickness and runs quick routes that makes himself a target.

Too bad Ginn can't run routes.

You are right and I nearly addressed this in my original post. The numbers suggest that while Bess has the quickness and route running capability to get open he lacks big play speed. Remind you of anyone? I wouldn't expect the 8 ypc average to continue however. In fact, last year he averaged over 10 ypc (same as Welker). Bess will one day top 1000 yards.

I am insulted by some of you mentioning Teddy Bear Ginn in the same sentence as Bess. :)

Every thread turns into a Ginn bashing fest....its ridiculous. I hope he plays out of his mind from here on out so all of you can eat your words.

I have been hoping I would eat my words for going on three years now...still waiting.
