Miami's most pressing need is nose tackle in my humble opinion. So my question is directed to someone that is in the know. Who would be a good college early draft pick as a N/T in a 3/4 system that Sparano runs? (road grader)

I agree we need a NT, but it certainly isn't our biggest need. I'm a big Soliai supporter, and I think if ferg decides to hang it up, we either sign a midlevel FA, or draft someone to push Soliai for playing time.. Whoever we grab it needs to be relatively early (rounds 3-6) because Soliai, cannot play everydown, but he can be a starter and a solid NT.

I think the dolphins wont put Suh, McCoy, etc on their watch list because we wont be in the market that early, unless Cody really impresses our scouts.

So I'm looking in the mid to late rounds for prospects and these are a few of the guys i like..

Boo Robinson - Wake Forest, 6'2 330lbs, in the mold of Vince Wilfork, is a monster in the run game, but still needs to develop, could step in and spell Soliai immediatly IMO. We can grab him in the late 2nd or mid 3rd round range.

Marvin Austin - N. Carolina 6'3 305, I think the FO will opt for a 320+ guy, but Marvin could max out somewhere around 315, and with his speed (4.8) he'd be the perfect complement to Soliai. Put Marvin on pasing downs, since Soliai doesn't help much there. His stock may rise into the first round if he runs that 4.8, I do not seeing him slip past early 2nd round, any defensive alignment could use a guy with this skill.

Torrell Troup - UCF 6'3 330- His presence makes UCF tough to run up the middle on, He's always getting deep penetration, and is clearly the strongest guy in the trenches each week I tune in to watch my alma mater. Solid 3-4NT prospect, will take 2-3 years to acheive great success, needs time to develop like Soliai has recieved.

there are not alot of options in the draft this year. finding a guy thats 6'2 350 is hard. Secretely I hope Ireland and Parcells know something about Terrence Cody and take him in the first round. But He would have to become a top 3 NT for that to be worth the pick.

There are alot more of those body types around the NFL, maybe we can trade one of our 6th's or 7th's like we did for Tony McDaniel.

I like Torrell Troup as that Road grader type, like Ferg. said a nose must occupy double teams and be accounted for to be any good in this game.

Terrence Cody anyone? I don't follow college football, but I've heard this guy from Alabama is a monster.

he's a big dude for sure. but he isn't even a 3 down player in college. IMO he will be a good run stopper at the next level, but he doesn't have the stamina to play full-time. he's useless as a pass rusher anyway.

The guy from Wake Forest and the guy from Tennesse look like they hold their ground well. Boo is only 295, so I'm guessing/hoping that he can have some weight put on him. I'd like to see what Tony McDaniel can do at the nose before reaching on someone, too many other needs to fill for that. maybe Cam Thomas in a mid round.

Word is Boo was up to 310 when they took the field against Baylor in early Sept.....

I'm not sold on him as a NT....but this is kid is a HARD worker.....I believe WF was the only school from a BCS conference to offer him a scholarship...

He's earned every bit of his recognition and accolades the ol' fashioned way.....he worked his butt off....

I think he's more of a 3-Technique in the NFL....but he's one of those guys that has a chance to stick on a roster and stay in the league for 10 years....

Most true NT's come out in passing situtations.
Cody will be a all-pro NT in the NFL...the bad thing is a
true 3-4 NT doesn't carry a first round value.
If we could get Cody in the 2nd and LB McClain with
our first...SUPER!!!
But I'm a Bama grad,so I'm a little biased.

Hey, if the right guy is there like Ngata or Wilfork... hell yes they're 1st rd values. Maybe Raji, we'll see. Saban was pissed when Ngata got taken 11th I think. Then dejected after Wimbley got drafted. Then he took- Jason Allen.

I see your point, but it's such a critical position. Sacks are nice, and imprtant, but a 3-4 defense that loses it's NT has got big problems. Ergo the Pats always loading up. Granted, Brace was a 2nd.

I think that maybe the data is skewed because it's been a recent transition/trend for defenses to adopt the 3-4 again. Kind of like the Chiefs taking a 3-4 DE way higher than expected (Tyson Jackson #3) I wouldn't be surprised to see more and more quality NTs go in the 1st rd.

Cody- fat guy in a little coat syndrome, but he is a load. Great effort on those blocked kicks against UT.

dan williams, terrance cody, jared odrick, ekom udofia, cam thomas, and boo robinson are all possibilities for us IMO.

Question is...who would be the RIGHT guy for our sistem and other Defensive players? But, basically the player I most want on our team to improve is Soliai...maybe Clemons after that. So we can get a (possible) star WR and ILB come next draft with our first 2 picks...

Watched Dan Williams the other night Tenn. vs. S.C. He is a beast! The man was making tackles all over the field. I know how much everybody loves Eric Berry but the guy was a ghost the whole game! Except for a facemask penalty against him. I don't recall hearing his name too much. Dan Williams put on a show!

Supposedly the Bucs ae drooling over Suh so I doubt he drops
