I can't believe that this guy might be a free agent.
A poor punting team like Miami would gain 25 yards of field position per game with him.
The price tag? Probably 3-4 million per season
Not the most exciting addition but well worth the investment

I must get back to work on my welcome Jason Brown banner

We definitely need to upgrade at that position. If Lechler becomes a Free Agent, I agree...this is a no brianer.

3-4 mil per? I hope Miami does sign a punter for 4 million per.

yea almost as good as paying 2 qbs over 25 mill for a year

:lol2:....

But some team will trade for him and they will once again have multiple picks in the first round. :(

...

As far as the punter...not sure how I would feel about paying him 3-4 million a season. I think 2.5 is about the most. If he kicked field goals and was as good...easy SIGN HIM. But he is a punter, no matter how great punt, MIAMI has tooooo many holes to pay him that much this season.

Although Miami could sign him to a long term contract (Punters are like golfers they can play forever...), then the cap number would be much lower. That would be awesome!!!

Lechler would be a huge upgrade over Fields.....but I think we also should maybe try to draft Graham Gano of Florida State who is a good punter. Gano is also a good FG kicker and a guy who can boom kickoffs. I would keep Carpenter and cut Fields.

that's the problem, we get a punter and pay him near league minimum and he is just average....we need to pay a actual good punter....and he is slated to become a free agent....but he might want to stay where he is

lol, put down the drugs.... If you really think a Punter would cost that much you're seriously high

Hands down Lechler is the best punter in the NFL, but Miami has a good punter in Brandon Fields. We don't need to focus on this area, remember what Parcells said when he got here "We have Center, a Punter, and maybe Ronnie Brown". Not a position of need on a team that needs to add solid depth at every position.

Well it looks like now he is not happy with the center and the punter has been a disappointment. We still have Ronnie Brown though.

And then we can somehow incorporate him into the wildcat. Pooch punts on third and long? Oh the possibilities!
