only if you look at it from a 2002 perspective, since guys like Kareem and Jerris were productive (not sitting on the bench or inactive) when they were on the team even if it was s/t - but that IMHO :D

I went with 1997 too...

JT and Sam Maddison makes it a very valuable class, today. DG's injuries in recent seasons devalue his class.

Yes it's from the perspective of going into the 2002 season, but that's where we are now. And if we end up superbowl champs it's the only measure that counts.

that's like saying we have a lousy draft in '83

See your point

But the HOF is for outstanding past contributers, all those drafts in the poll could have contributers to the now.

Those two classes are quite close to call even if you do just consider the current contribution.

Madison and Taylor are both franchise players.

BUT

Thomas and Gardener, too, are both franchise players.

In 1997, we also got Derrick Rodgers, Brent Smith and Ed Perry.

In 1996, we also got Shawn Wooden.

Sure, in 1996 we had more players contributing from the 96 class compared to the contributors we got in '97, but we weren't exactly a very strong team in 1996 (Record of 8-8).

We have four guys (Taylor, Madison, Smith, Rodgers) from the '97 class who are probably going to be starters this year, and only two from the '96 class (Thomas and Gardener).

I think ya gotta go with the '97 class.

if Smith is our starting LT on opening day, I'll give it to you ;) :D

The worst draft...hands down was the 95 draft. Milner and Greene were the ultimate wasted picks. The only positive we had to show for that draft was that we were able to trade Milner for Troy Drayton.

Well, it's pretty funny how horrible we are against the run when he's out in comparison to when he's playing. Guess it's just a coincidence, huh?

Yeah, but he isn't a franchise player. If he were a franchise player, he would also be able to get sacks and wouldn't be injured all the time.

Daryl Gardener is a good pass rushing DT, it's just not his role. As you SHOULD know, it's his job to eat up blockers and let the LBs make the plays.

Gardener may not be a franchise player now, STRICTLY due to injury, but when healhy(Big "when" now) he absolutely IS a franchise player. That isn't even worth debating.
