the 2 DE's are ballers

the Wolverines look like studs

Donald Thomas is a favorite of the coaches

I don't know, the 1983 draft was a pretty good one.

Dan Marino
Reggie Roby
Mark Clayton
Anthony Carter...if only we could have kept him.

you're correct that is a better draft than Duhe/Baumhower

this thread is pointless, I'm gonna give it 1 star

A really good draft was essential given what we've done over the last decade:

Out of last year's 10 picks, we got a center, a punter, and maybe a kick returner's family. Of our six 2006 picks, we have one possible starter, two possible backups, and three washouts. We have two good starters from our 2005 draft, plus one marginal starter and a backup. We have Vernon Carey to show for our 2004 draft, and Yeremiah Bell from 2003.

Regarding past drafts, here's how I would rank them:

(1) 1983 -- Marino, Clayton, Roby
(2) 1968 -- Larry Csonka, Jim Kiick, Dick Anderson, Doug Crusan fwiw, we also drafted Tom Paciorek, who played 18 years in MLB
(3) 1996 -- Zach Thomas, Daryl Gardener, Karim Abdul-Jabbar, Shawn Wooden, Stanley Pritchett
(4) 1979 -- Jon Giesler, Jeff Toews, Tony Nathan, Uwe von Schamann, Glenn Blackwood
(5) 1977 -- A.J. Duhe, Bob Baumhower

If Henne pans out, this year's draft class will crack the top five all-time...possibly even top three.

Yea slow down a little. Lets ask the same question in 3-5 years. If the 5 of them are starting and being very productive then maybe. Hey can we get a pro bowler out of one of em at least.

Guys lets be honest.

After the past couple of drafts, this draft looks amazing. Long looked pretty good, Henne looks like a solid QB in the making, Merling was a pure stud, Langford was GREAT, and Donald Thomas has everything you need to mold him into a solid OG. He has been playing football for 3 years, guys. I think he can be trained and molded, and then boom, we have a guy who has the skill set of a first rounder drafted in the 6th :)

You left out two classes that had massive impact on the early '70s true glory years:

* 1970 -- Jim Mandich, Tim Foley, Curtis Johnson, Jake Scott, Hubert Ginn, Mike Kolen.

In fact, that draft becomes the greatest in Dolphin history if you include Paul Warfield, who was acquired from Cleveland for the 1st round pick

* 1969 -- Bill Stanfill, Bob Heinz, Mercury Morris, Lloyd Mumphord.

Sam Madison and Jason Taylor in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, respectively, in 1997 was a decent draft (even if we did take Yatil Green in the 1st).

Henne and Long are future starters.. for sure. Langford and Merling certainly look like they'll be starters for sure.. Donald Thomas is certainly going to start. Thats five potential starers.. add in Parmele, if he could be a nice change of pace back, and step up where needed, there is no reason that this draft class would be top 3. There isn;t sexy skill offensive player names. But it's solid. By all accounts.. and EXCELLENT draft by the Trifecta.
