Best Homefield Advantage In Nfl?

Hard to believe. The stadium is never full and opposing team's fans are in abundance. If the team is playing better at home and putrid on the road then that's on the coaches.
Funny.... I’ve gone to two games in the updated stadium. Both times it was full to the brim (and LOUD), and both times there were noticeably less opposing fans than I had seen in previous years.

The games I went to were packed with opposing fans . . . .Raiders and Pat's (and primetime) so it's to be expected. But Dolfan turnout was pretty good I thought, not packed to the brim but more packed than pre stadium updates.

And no question it's louder now

It's not a big surprise. Even the Patriots struggle in our building.

We can weather a losses in New England, Minnesota or Green Bay.

But this team needs to the put the Jets and Bills away consistently in their building's.

I haven't been to the building since the roof went on. I hope to this season.

Has more to do with weather and schedule than it does with fans.

I went to the Orange Bowl the past two years and Miami FSU last time it was down here. That stadium can get loud.

We're one home loss away from a "fan's fault" renaissance @Spesh

l am old enough to remember when we had the BEST home field advantage in the league in the old Orange Bowl. That place would ROCK. I remember being at a Monday night game when Jaworski backed away from center three times in a row because of the noise. When they finally got the play off, he threw an interception. Fun times.

The old Orange Bowl was a big advantage but this one has not. Of course we had some great teams those years and now we don't but too many fans of the other teams come to our games now.

Back in the day it was. But now? It’s pretty much dead in terms of the fanbase. It’s too hard to get in and out of the stadium. The traffic sucks, you can’t drink without a DD, it’s far from Miami proper and the tickets are overpriced. The lower bowl seats on the 50 yard line were wrecked and ridiculously overpriced recliners were put in for yuppies, Ross owns the resale company, selling most of the tickets to them in an effort to inflate prices. We only have ever had one 1 pm divisional game each year September and October going back to 2006 while playing most of our away games up north late in the seeason. And most importantly, there’s no longer a true fanatics section to create any noise or energy. I haven’t been impressed by the energy of the stadium since the early 2000s, which just so happens to be before Ross was brought into the ownership group.

I was last there two years ago and the traffic was fine. I hear it’s even more improved since. Drinking? I don’t need to do it to go to a game. Far from Miami proper? I’m 900 miles away and have gone to games. Tickets over the years have been cheaper than a lot of other places actually. You want cheap 50 yard line seats, where in the league would you find that?

I go to at least one game every year from Gainesville. But, if you want to get a local and rowdy crowd you need to build your stadium within the city or in a place that is accessible by public transportation. I have been to about half of the NFL stadiums and around 20 college stadiums. The best experiences are controlled by two factors. Winning, and accessibility. College games are fun because the stadiums are easily accessible. The Eagles, Pitt, Redskins etc have great, cheaper, experiences that attract locals while also being close to public transportation and/or being in the center of the metropolitan areas. Miami Gardens is not accessible by public transportation, and after games it can take upwards of an hour to get to the highway unless you wait it out. In which case you have to drive.

And no one who likes to drink at games can do that without a DD in Miami. If you like to drink and be rowdy, you’re going to go to a bar and save yourself the grief and $200 per head.

In terms of pricing, no, we are not one of the cheaper teams. Yes, our FACE value looks good. But the problem is that you can’t get face value tickets from the Dolphins unless you are a season ticket holder. The resale market has completely priced out most of your run of the mill fans. Like I said. Ross owns the resale company he sells his tickets to. The extra middle man has monopolized resale, and now we go through a three step process to get tickets (Dolphins -> Ross -> stubhub etc -> us). Every step increases the price.

In terms of 50 yard line seats, I don’t expect them to be cheap. But I do expect them to be less than $5,000 a head. Those recliners are obscene and cater to a very specific, very boring niche. No one sitting in their recliner is there for the cultural experience. They’re there to watch a game in comfort.

I remember when we used to start every season 3-1 or 4-0 at home as visiting teams were sucking oxygen on the sidelines and we were ready to play 3 over times if necessary.

Hey, how can we be so bad on the road? These guys need to start sleeping at some Holiday Inn Expresses.
