Best move for dolphins... Trade Zach and Jason

i am a long time Football fan....
i became a dolphin fan because i was a huge fan of Jimmy Johnson...and followed him over...
so back in 96 i called it for my friends who were all Dallas Fans... time to cut emmit and Irvin...
I will call it now...

time to unload your old stars.
Lets face it folks... we are not going to the superbowl next year.... we should make it deep into the playoffs.. but not the big game....

Zach and Jason will be in sharp decline when its our time.. they will not be helping us get there...
today as probowlers... they are worth 4 or 5 draft picks to us and about 15 milliion in cap space... time to cut bait on these guys whilst Saban knows the pool of college tallent and can maximize the pix he gets.

this may be unpopular now but i'm telling you when taylor breaks his leg or zach gets turf toe.... you will remember this post and think.. "hey we could have drafted Joe Sombody if we had just traded away Zack and Jason when they were still worth something... now thier old and they just do Viagra commercials"!

I think you severely overestimate what we could get for them and underestimate their value to us.

The time to make this move has passed, IMHO. A couple years ago it may have made sense. Not now.

I hear where your coming from. 30 plus year old guys you dont tend to build around. Jt to fetch more picks imo than Zach and the way the markets going, I dont think we would get any value for them. But like Saban said, he's open to any offer to ANY of our players.
 
they dont have much value to other teams either because like u said they are getting old

thats why most people dont see it... i'm sorry you just dont pay someone the kind of money they are making when 2 years from now they will be just average...

dont missunderstand me i love these guys huge fans... but people... they have the best trade value they will get for us now...

someone will trade a couple of 2nd rounders for zach and look like a hero when he turns thier crummy Defense around next year...
then 2 years from now when they are paying him 8 million a season we will be in the big game with our new Lb and CB while Zach is rehabing his torn achilies....

look hold on to QBs but dont make long term commitments to other guys over 30... its not smart.

This is what scouts are for. Good scouts. JT and ZT will stay for a few more years. Specially when they are putting up numbers like they are.
 
While I wouldn't be against trading Zach, we would not get fair value for him. And what I worry about more is the negative effect it would have on JT. And any cowboy fan should know that JT could still have many productive years to come. A-la Charles Haley. Zach's career is very short, he's taking too many poundings. But Vets don't get fair trade value anymore. Is a 3rd or 4th round pick really worth getting rid of him?

Their salaries and cap hits make the possibility of a trade almost nil. Both recently renegotiated their contract. They aren't going anywhere this year. Besides, Saban can only fill so many holes each year with FA and draft...why create more when we already have so many ?? I love both players and will miss them when their gone, but the reality of the situation points to neither going anywhere this offseason.

naw .. thier 30 someone like Minn or Greenbay will think that they are the missing piece that will put them over the edge..

Hey im eric in PA and u need to get the clown boot out of your mouth cuz thats the worst thing i ever heard thomas was playing the best ball of his carer this season and taylor is still getting a good amount of sacks....and you call your self a dolphins fan...you probly wanted us to cut or trade marino also we coulda got like 50 draft picks for him :rolleyes:
