Wayne will NOT be giving ful control to next HC. From the Palm Beach Post:

Owner Wayne Huizenga also has indicated he likely won't grant total organizational control to the next coach - something Nick Saban was given. Carroll, the former Jets and Patriots coach, said that sort of control would be a stipulation in any possible return to the NFL.

Maybe now we will begin to gather some top talent.

Thank God, that possibly takes Pete Carroll out of the picture.

I also love the part that they are impressed with Mike Tomlin. He's one of my favorite coaching canidates this year, and I hope they give him some serious consideration. I just hope we don't wait too long and let the other teams snatch up all the better coaches first.

Im cool with Martz, he turned detroits offense into a pretty good one, just their defense is horrible.

With a tailback like Ronnie Brown, I'm not sure why anyone would be cool with Martz. Guess what team ran the ball the least amount of times this past season? You guessed it. The Detroit Lions.

Why would we want a coach that is going to completely ignore the running game and waste a tremendous talent like Ronnie Brown?

Also, if the Dolphins give the decision making power to the GM, then the thing we have to worry about is the GM taking the players that fit what the head coach wants to do. I've seen GM's like Jerry Angelo intentionally make personnel decisions to get rid of HC's like Dick Jauron.

The idea that separating the GM and the HC isn't always the best idea. The only way it works out is if the GM and HC are on the same page in terms of what they want to do.

You're right, you need a very good relationship between HC and GM (a la Patriots). However, the coach ASLO needs to be able to adjust to the kind of players he has. That is why I was so impressed with the Shottenheimer interview reports.

I dont agree with The Martz thing either but to his credit its not like he really has a break away back in Detroit, like he did with the Rams.

I'm not a fan of Martz and really not thrilled about the idea of him being HC, but I've seen alot of people on here blast him for ignoring the run and just pass pass pass all the time, you all realize he had a RB in St Louis by the name of Marshall Faulk right? and one of Ronnie Brown's strengeths as a RB coming out of Auburn was his pass catching ability as well.

I think Martz would utilize Ronnies' skills to the fullest. Like what was said above he did that with Faulk in St. Louis. It is his weird personality I would worry about. He is worth a second interview.
