IMO

Best crew: ESPN Sunday Countdown - despite Irvin being an idiot, it's a fast-paced show that everybody works well together in
Worst crew: CBS - these guys are drab and just seem to have zero chemistry. Sorry Dan

Best pair: Tom Jackson and Chris Berman (yeah, yeah, even though he's a Bill fan)

Best analyst: Jimmy Johnson - maybe not the most colorful, but objective and not afraid to go out on a limb
Worst analyst: Salisbury - he's more of a monday morning quarterback than he ever was a qb on the field

Best gamecallers: ESPN Sunday Night - I'll probably get railed for this, but listening to these guys bicker is sometimes better than the games themselves. Also, these guys seem to know more about the players

Worst gamecallers: Anything with Simms in the mix - no further explaination necessary

Other opinions?

Wow, I never thought I would ever see that from a sports fan. I hate these guys so much. They say so many stupid things that sometimes it makes me wonder if they watched let alone played football.

This is the only group where I have actually muted and watched the game in total silence. I HATE watching a game in total silence.

I hate ESPN. I like the guys on Fox cus they kick it around. CBS tries to copy them. Dan the man is the man however. Esiason is a selfish prick.

Right on with Esiason

i usually don't care who the commentators are, but the best is michaels/madden and the absolute WORSE is the ESPN sunday night vick-lovefest. the mute button usually comes into play before the first quarter is done

I like those guys in most games, but good point, it is a vick-lovefest when the falcons play.

i have a hard time watching any of the pregame shows, but i think CBS is the worst and FOX is the best. bradshaw might mix up his words, but its an entertaining show, imo. ESPN is just average and i dont like all the personal stories they do. i really dont care where a guy grew up or how good his mom was.

play-by-play: CBS: i like ian eagle, kevin harlan, and gus johnson although hes is a better baskeball announcer-one of the best there is. nantz is just ok. dick enberg is prob. my favorite

i like kenny albert and joe buck is pretty good

color: i like moose and actually dont mind randy cross. he trys to be hip, but make good observations. i think baldinger (sp) is ok. i find aikman and simms irritating. they make good comments, but their voices are bad

for sunday night, mike patrick should stick to college b-ball and mcguire needs to go away. i think theisman would be ok with different guys.

monday night, bad chemistry here. they talk over each other. madden was better paired with the drone of pat summeral (sp). and michaels would be better with a more concise color guy

Good points. Madden and Michaels do have a habit of reminiscing

worst by far is the sunday night crew esp Joe T

i also think randy cross is horrible

enberg and dierdorf are good

as for pregames- Shannon Shape is a borderline idiot

Best Play By Play - Al Michaels: When he is doing PLAY BY PLAY there is none better in my opinion. He is smooth and knowledgable. He is the best in the business at pointing out poor clock management and he will critisize players when it is needed.

Best Color Guy - Troy Aikman: He knows the game. He is critical of coaches and players (more now then when he started) and continues to improve as a color man.

Worst Play By Play - Mike Patrick: He makes every call seem like it is the bigeest play ever. The guy is too lovey dovey as well. He used to be good (6-8 years ago) but I think he's lost it totally.

Worst Color Guy - Paul McGuire/Joe Theismann (tie): McGuire is a homer and he has gone senile. Theismann is just plain bad. I'll give Joe one thing though. When I hear him doing radio interviews and he is discussing the game he is actually pretty damned good.

Best Studio Show - Fox: I know they tend to yell and scream and get a little out of hand but at least it is entertaining.

Worst Studio Show - CBS: I love Dan but the show is weak.

The thing I've noticed over the last 10 years is how the level of play by play and color commentary has gotten terrible.

Whewn I first started watching the sport it was Dick Enberg and Pat Summerall. they were both perfect in their unique ways. Now the guys I hear most weeks just plain suck. On a side note. When Matt Millen gets fired as GM of the Lions I REALLY hope he returns to the booth....the guy was VERY good.
