The Fins made a LOT of great moves. It's hard to pick just one. I mean it's all interconnected really. We needed a new coaching staff and we got a hell of an upgrade nearly across the board. I like Sparano's no nonsense, tough, straightforward aproach. I like Parcells' experience and tenacity. You cannot understate the importance of getting guys like Ireland and Company that KNOW HOW TO DRAFT! We've been missing that for way too long.
This excellent draft would not have been possible without a staff that has a definite and solid strategy going into it.
Jake Long was by far the best move in the draft, but the other picks were key acquisitions as well. Chad Henne (our starter within 2 years, IMO) was the QB they wanted from the start and they gambled and got him in the perfect spot for value, depth and competition for Beck.
Trading a 4th for 2 probable starters was a smooth move, and Fasano was originally a 2nd rounder, so it makes up for trading Booker to get the 4th rounder to use on them even though we spent a 3rd rounder on him last year. I have to say that is our "worst" move, but the coaches said he didn't have the size they wanted and didn't fit the system they want. I would have liked to seen them get better value for him, but I'm sure it's not easy to get everything you want in the middle of a draft.
The biggest loss, if not just for identity, was Zach Thomas. I know he is getting old, could be considered overpaid, and is undersized, but losing a leader and real football player like him is always a big loss. I hope he kicks *** in Dallas.
