2008:
Ted Ginn
Greg Camarillo
Davone Bess
Derek Hagan
Brandon London
Ernest Wilford

2012:
Legadu Naanee
Brian Hartline (?)
Davone Bess
Roberto Wallace
Clyde Gates
Marlon Moore or BJ Cunningham or Jeff Fuller or Rishard Matthews or Julius Pruitt

(remember, the Dolphins made the playoffs in 2008)

Can't say until they start playing games. While the 2008 squad was weak on paper, they didn't drops balls at all. I think Camarillo had 1 drop and Bess may have had 1 or 2 drops that season...even Ginn didn't have any drops...he promptly ran out of bounds after catching the ball but he didn't drop any.

This year's group: at least on paper. The last three listed in the '08 group were non-factors. Pennington really had a wonderful season that year.

Bess is better now, Hartline will put up his usual numbers if he is healthy and Naanee and Wallace could be big factors, especially in the end zone.

Ginn didn't have drops?? Didn't he have a million drops that year. Or was that 2010? When was the Colts game where he dropped the game winning TD with Pennington at the helm?

I think that was the year after in 2009.

13Dolfan87...2008 was Pennington 2nd best year of his career. He had a 97.4 passer rating, 2nd best completion percentage of his career, 2nd most TDs of his career, tied for the lowest interception percentage of his career, and the most yard per game of his career.

In 2008, we didnt use our WRs like we are now. We also had 67 catches going to the TE's and 87 catches going to RB's in 2008. Its tough to compare players in different styles of offense, but I'd say the 2012 WR's are more athletic for sure.

with that group of Wrs? No ****ing way. I thought a qb needed great recievers to have a productive season.

2008. I still love Camerillo. Pennington was a great triggerman that year.

Our passing game sucked that year, and thats why started to run the wildcat. And our defense was very good to keep us in game. Yet as of right now because it just preseason and of Ted Ginn (never thought i would say this), 08 receiving core was better.

remember, Camarillo tore his ACL in the 11th game of the season in 2008 and Hagan got cut in early November. During our late season surge Ted Ginn and Bess were the only 2 WRs even getting used in the passing game. I think Brandon London had one catch but he was mostly in to block. The big thing to remember in 2008 was that We got 11 touchdowns from our TEs (7 from Fasano, 3 from David Martin, and 1 from Joey Haynos).

Honestly, preseason it's a toss up, but you can argue that a more experienced Bess (rookie in 2008) and Fasano (who did nothing up until we traded for him), Reggie Bush, Brian Hartline (if healthy), and Charles Clay gives us better options than 2008.

2008 relied heavily on trick plays this is just a highlight video, but still

Wildcat, Ginn Reverses, and playaction to Fasano was our playbook on offense and we had Joey Porter and Andrew Goodman playing lights out on D.

On paper and without comparing the outcome of 2008, I got to go with the 2008 WR group on this one...

Tedd Ginn was a high first round pick, so there were high expectations. Davone Bess was exciting to watch as a rookie. Brandon London had showed he could make a play or two. As for Wilford, well there was hope that he could live up to expectations and put up numbers like he did in Jacksonville.

This years WR group, the only one I could say has made a name for himself is Bess. Hartline is a bit above average and coming off an injury. Roberto Wallace may be the next Brandon London and the rest of the guys we could only hope they step it up...

Really, the only difference I think we have going for us is the offensive system. If philbin develops the offense to be like New Orleans or Green Bay, we won't need a big name WR. It will simply elevate every WR on our roster's gameplay.

They pounded the ball that season and set a record for turnovers. If you manage the ball and take care of business you will win games.

As for the receiving corps, flip a coin unless someone steps up in dramatic fashion the units are pretty much equal.

You've got it backwards. Our running game was terrible that year. Our passing game was actually pretty darn good once we got a couple games in. Not big plays, mind you, but between Bess and Camarillo we were exceptionally consistent, which as several years of 7-9 later was would show was just as important as athleticism.
