This has probably been discussed before but i'd like to get into it...We are not that much different from 2 season ago when we had our 10-6 record. We still have our main core of guys for the most part, mostly with our D holding us down. Fiedler may be gone but so far I have seen a resemblence with Feeley, yet I feel he's improving. McMIke didn't get into any trouble, and we have a star runningback in town with more virsatility than before. Also Surtain may be gone but we have a lot of depth at the corner position. Now as for our coaching staff we are probably 200% better so i don't see why we can't be better than those phins if everyone stays healthy.

I really don't understand the experts when they say we have sooo many gaps on our team. Did we really have that many 2 years ago when we were 10-6? The only thing that i see that could potentially hold us back is, performances coming back from injury and injury itself. I just thought i'd bring it up because it's someting that really bugs me about these experts. Whats your guys' takes?

I totally agree with you.

If you look at last season, so many things happened to our team mentally to put them into a losing situation.

coaches fighting between themselves

players walking away before (ricky) and during (that one guy, i forget his name. walked right out of practice, never came back) practice.

Hurricanes decimating South Florida, and the worrying about family while games were going on.

Injuries to our top players. Thomas, Seau, etc.

And overall, there was no confidence in the team as a whole.

The team didnt believe they could win, and fell into a funk. But now, with Saban and this amazing group of coaches and players we have, I honestly think we have a shot at the playoffs. People will be calling us the next San Diego. But we've always been a great team. We just had a freak show of problems last year that have either been remedied or are very unlikely to happen again (hurricanes, but ya never know)

:bravo:

You are 100% correct, Nick Saban is the fukkin man.

Well keep in mind i think we were returning with almost all our starters from the previous year. That and now we have a starting cb position up for grabs, a safety position up for grabs, a olb position up for grabs, a lt position that has some ?'s, qb position with ?s, a new offensive and defensive systems, a rookie rb with high expectations. So really we have alot more up in the air this year compared to yesteryears.

a olb position up for grabs,

Watch Channing Crowder walk away with the SAM position.

Is that really a bad thing coming from a 4-12 year? ;)

Nope its not a bad thing but i was compareing it to our 10-6 year and why people dont expect much from us. Which is what the main post was about

We had almost as many "gaps" last year especially with a rebuilt Oline yet many of us were giving us a solid shot at the SB....until Ricky quit, Dan was hired then quit, an OC stepped down, fighting amongst the coaches, Boston blew out a knee, we went through 5-6 RBs in 3 games, hurricanes screwed up games, our lead FB was out most the season, we lost both DTs....hell...there were only a couple of moments I actually enjoyed last year (Welker for the TD on a return, Bua's hit etc.). Last season....anything that could go wrong....did.

So....barring Brown deciding he doesn't want to play football in 4 months and quitting, Timbo/Chester retiring, Holiday and Carter getting injured in pre-season, Seau retearing a pec muscle, Saban quitting 1/2 way through the season, CC or Booker blowing a knee out, Marino coming back just to quit again, 4 more hurricanes hitting Florida, Minor/Gordon/Morris all getting injured by week 3......I say our chances are ALOT better then last year and ALOT better then most are giving us credit for.

Did you see my post about the Oct. 30th game w/ the Saints in the 'dome?

I'll be there for sure, you should get there, we could meet up and have a few beers before the game.

A buddy of mine is trying to get me to do it....but with a wife and 2 kids...makes traveling for the weekend a bit hard or else I would love to! We caught the preseason games when we were up there though and had some fun :) I didn't see the post but will check ur history real quick...If we decide to do it though I'll definitely give u a shout...we usually hang out in the street before heading through the mall to the game.

You go and check my history, you fukker!!

I remember giving you a PM last year about the pre-season game.

That was crap. We need to hook up for the REAL game this year. My sister, brother in law, parents, etc...they are all Saints fans...so it'll be all the sweeter when the Aqua and orang kick their a$$ this year in the dome.

Go Fins baby!

jbond, you need to get in touch with me and meet me for that game.

LMFAO..... :roflmao: :roflmao:

Sort of puts last season in perspective doesn't it...

yep....go ahead and throw some more injuries, Oline juggling, QB juggling, new offensive scheme and other things to the list as well.....just to make it more realistic....lol That's what I don't get. Our "record" was 4-12 but the rest of the league (and AFCE fans) seem to forget everything that happened which led up to our oustanding last season.

It all reamins to be seen. Do these guys gel this year? or or next?

I feel that now with Saben, there is a "plan". Get get with the plan or get lost...

(ps <3 Surtain, no offence)

Be carefull there young man

Some people on here think people like you who actualy watch the games and follow the team shouln't be alowed to post

As far as the experts an ex is a has been, a spert is a drip under preasure :roflmao:

As far as the team goes they are better than last season indicated, and that will show up this season :cooldude:

I do not agree with you, I believe we are better than two years ago. Its all coaching and attitude now, the players believe in what they are doing and not just going through the motions. The other thing is noone knows what to expect from us on both sides of the ball (watch out on special teams too). We will be switching it up week to week based on the other teams strengths and adjusting to it. When we sucked last year, we were still able to play teams close going into the 4th quarter, the line between sucking and being great is not as far apart as people think.

We have talent on this team and at QB too. If Feeley ends up doing well and Frerrote proved what he did in Minny, then we got something going. This offense will be so much more together even if they go through the growing pains early.
