we jumped out to a fast start last year n think we overpaid on a few.loved the Wallace n Keller pick ups but not to excited by the others.
this year we got Albert n Moreno two great pick ups along with a few head scratching moves?
so did we do.better this year or last and explain why u think so

My favorite sign was Earl Mitchell. Under the radar acquisition. Just like when we signed Randy Starks when he was a 25-26 yr old up and comer, I see the same level of talent in Mitchell. Love that move.

Don't really like nor agree with the Albert, Finnegan and Delmas signings though.

Oh and last year was better, way better...

The 2 lb signings ruined last years free agency. I like the keller signing but he got hurt. I think we overpaid hartline and wallace. So I think we did better this year.Other than albert the other deals were short money. If hickey can draft better than Ireland which shouldnt be too hard, thats where we can really make this team better

How can anyone possibly know until they see them play on the field in some real games? I'll remind you that a great many people on this board watched the first few games last year and were dead sure we'd solved our o-line problems.

Last year seemed to be more about jettisoning players that didn't fit the teams direction. This year has been about addressing actual need positions at least.

IMO, The best move both years was the same guy.

Last Year: signing Grimes.

This Year: re-signing Grimes.

... other than that, it would seem too early to tell. Ask me again in Jan. '15

I don't think we are finished with adding free agents, but if we are last year was MUCH better. Lance Louis had a better resume than does Shelley Smith, Albert was needed but not so sure how that will work out. I love Delmus and think he might work out better than some may think but Mitchell is a down grade from Soliai. I like Moreno but he is not a star player just a solid guy in pass protect that can teach the young guys.

Last year we brought in Keller, Gibson, Wallace, and Grimes. All of those were game changers. Obviously we won't really know until the year is over and we have the full body of work to compare, but as of right now comparing the two I can't see how we have been better in Free Agency this year compared to last year.

^^ this jeff Ireland sucked big time. Last year with the money and picks we had I would have loved to have seen what a competent gm could have done.

replacing Dansby and Burnett with Ellerbe and Wheeler were awful. signing Clabo as the starting RT proved another big mistake. at least we got Grimes last year.

we got lucky grimes came here.wallace was shown the money n he took it.lets see what happens in year 2 for these guys.wld b nice if they started earning there pay checks.

I think both guys earned their paychecks last year. Wallace did what Wallace does. He runs fast. He's never been a guy who was going to go up and fight to get the ball on any consistent basis. I don't know why so many people here thought his game was going to change just because he put on a Miami uniform and got a big paycheck. His skill set is what it is. It's up to our coaches to take advantage of it as well as Pittsburgh did.

Wallace in no way earned his paycheck.

You're correct in that Wallace does one thing well and that's run fast. What he lacks is running precise routes and he seems to really miss the drive to fight for the ball. How many 50/50 balls did he win? I can't think of any. I don't even recall him going after them. He waits for the ball to drop into his hands. His route tree is a sapling. He gets in and out of his breaks slow. He's fast once he gets going but he isn't explosive. Has poor hands. Isn't physical at all.

Is he the same player he was in Pitt? Yes but that doesn't mean he played up to his paycheck. Not even close.
