It didn't take Nick Saban long to make a decision on Dan "Big Daddy" Wilkinson's status for Saturday's game. He's playing and I can't wait to see this. He's gonna stuff the run and Caddy is getting shutdown!!!

Check out this quote from Zach Thomas (courtesy of the Miami Herald)

''He's a beast,'' Thomas said. ``He's a big man. It's definitely going to help us. He's another guy that's an older veteran. He's seen every play, to be honest with you, and he knows how to play this type of defense, being in this scheme before. When you're a big body, it's going to help us linebackers as well.''

Gooooooooooooooooo Phinsssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!

What do you all think of Big Daddy and the impact that he will have this season for us? Please sound off...............

I really have question marks with this guy. You have too be some kind of lazy to not sign just because you don't want to put your fat but through training camp. I still think it's a good sign because any thing we get from him is a bonus IMO. He will see about 15-25 snaps a game and that will keep him and Traylor fresh all year.

I think having a guy like Dan can only help us. His size and experience will help make the LBs job easier and help them make bigger plays. And he'll also be able to stay fresh by spelling with Traylor. The way I see it we have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

I don't know if it's so much that he's lazy or just apprehension about putting it all on the line during practice and preseason play when you are "older" and on your last few seasons.

For many veteran players, preseason is considered unnecessary, they feel that they can perform at a high level without having to risk injury in a meaningless game.

Personally, I'm glad that he's in camp and working hard to contribute on this team. Luckily we have Traylor here so they can spell each other and the talent level on the feel doesn't drop as significantly as it did last year when Traylor was out.

keep the big o-line bodies off the linebackers!

I agree with you 100%

Phenominal signing IMO. You take him and Traylor and basically get one monster guy for the whole game. They keep each other fresh and I'm sure will push each other to play well. Now you have 1 350 lb beast in the middle on every play and on short yardage you have the option of putting them both in the middle. Think Zach will have a guy like Mawae sliding through to get to him - no shot now!

I am so in agreement

Not only that but Mawae is in KC now and we only have to see his superior talent at center one time. Woot!:D

Big Daddy was an awesome pickup for us! I don't see him as lazy, just older and needing to keep wear & tear to a minimum. Besides he wasn't sure yet if this was the best place for him, can't blame him for making sure since this will probably be where he spends the last years of his career.

Now with he and Traylor clogging up the middle, neither one gets too tired and both can be monsters for us! It's going to be a LOT harder for teams to run on us with Traylor and Big Daddy trading off, IMHO.

Don't be surprised if Caddie doesn't play or doesn't play very much. Gruden did this last season with Williams. He doesn't like him receiving the hits and dings during preseason games, therefore, he's got fresh legs and less wear and tear starting the season.

That way he can give him 30+ carries a game for the first 4 games and wear him out for the second half of the season.

IMO, Gruden didn't manage Caddy very well last season. They have a very capable backup in Michael Pittman. Something the Dolphins experianced first hand last year. :boohoo: He needs to keep it at 25-10 between the starter and backup too keep Caddy's tires from getting too much tread come December.

Mawae is with the Titans now, not KC.

as for Big Daddy, if Zach likes him, I like him

I agree. There is no reason he can't get him reps during the preseason and still have Pittman rotate in. I really don't think it helps Williams by not getting the reps.
