Word is defensive tackle Dan Wilkinson might eventually sign with Miami but has reservations about going through the rigors of a full training camp. His agent said the only team he's talking to is the Dolphins. Even if Wilkinson signs, Keith Traylor's agent, Jordan Woy, said Friday, ``It is my understanding Keith will be part of the Dolphins this year.''

What are your thoughts about signing a player who doesnt want to go through training camp and why would Saban accept such a situation.? Doesnt it set a precedent for other players who may want to skip training camp ?

He needs the reps to get into football shape, he may get some time off, as guys in his vet status in terms of body and injury may do..but he will have to go though TC just to get the timing of this D down and know what the other guys are doing.

If the guy doesn't want to work, then piss on him!

We don't need fat albert on this team.

But, if he can help us win, then bring him in

Hey, Hey, Hey

Miami has been pretty lenient with Keith Traylor in the past in training camp, I dunno what he would be fearing.

Saban knows... you make amends for guys like Big Daddy.... if healthy the guy has proven to be very productive.... he is only a piece of the puzzle... don't think you will see any vets unhappy....

Bottom line... if he can help the defense... he'll be on the roster... if he can't... he won't....

veterans don't like training camp, heavy players don't like training camp, and old, 350 lb nose tackles facing florida heat really don't like training camp. expect him to miss the 2 a day part of training camp no matter where he decides to play.

Tony Saragusa was never in shape, and he did alright for the Ravens once upon a time.

Tony was fast, very fast!
He was always the first in the buffet line:lol:

I can understand veteran DTs who know the system taking some time off in training camp but we are talking about a veteran player who would have to learn the ropes and get some feeling for how he fits in with his team mates.

Just like Bruce Smith when he was in Barfalo. He hated TC and never showed up on time, but he knew the system.

I think he just wants to take it a little easy at camp, not blow off the whole thing. If we can get a defensive veteran thats not gonna get burned every play, then we should.

Oh im sorry I thought u said he was going to sign with us.

It's becoming a trend for older vets. Guys like Ty Law are notorious for doing it (it's the reason he's still unsigned right now). Deion Sanders delayed him comeback a few years ago so he could skip TC.

But this guy needs to get his butt in there. You know he's out of shape. Stamina has always been a problem.

In regards to Traylor, I don't know why the media automatically got the impression that Wilkinson spelled the end of Traylor. Maybe because Traylor mused about getting cut at the end of last season. But there's absolutely no reason to believe it IMHO. Traylor's on another level when it comes to defending the run.

Wilkerson would only make Truck better and extend his career.

good point 66-only thing is that Nick is always working to upgrade, so in his perfect world both those lazy fat dudes would be moving on while a motivated fat dude (either or both of the "Wright Brothers" after a year of Nicks bulging carotids?) with hopefully comparable run defense skills takes their places-not in his long term plans to give any of his precious 53 to a lazy lardass, but he'll give them a chance to rise to his standards

One thing I've noticed-each move truly seems to be an upgrade, at least on paper-no emotional attachments-some might see it as no loyalty-but Nick does whatever is best for the team in all things-at least it says so in the cool new SI article
