Im think Big Daddy is a situational guy, Fred Evans really impressed and will probally see more time on 1st and 2nd down, but you can be sure Big Daddy will be in there on 2nd and short/3rd and short situations

I just love this Evans kid. What a diamond in the rough, huh? A 7th round pick from a 1-AA school that is forcing his way in for playing time on a very talented, experienced, and deep D-Line... in his rookie year.

Who the hell would have thought?

The miamidolphins.com depth chart gives a better indication... they play two different positions. Evans is the backup NT; however, I dont believe that Wilkinson is the 4th DT.

There was a lot of talk about Fred Evans and the Dolphins before the draft. KB, CK and Boomer had all mentioned that we'd spent a lot of time with him. It came as no suprise to me when we drafted him because of what I'd heard on here.. I didnt anticipate him being as good as he as shown though,

I'm also pretty excited about Rodrique Wright as well... I really think he could become an important player for us. We've got some good young DTs in Evans, Wright and Vickerson, and it would look even better if Manny was still playing as well.

I think Evans will only get better as he gets bigger and stronger over the next couple of years.

not on the topic of this thread, but what i hate about looking at our depth chart, is when you look at RG all you see is bennie anderson

you're right

Not this guy! but I'm glad we got another steal in a draft. Channing last year and Evans this year. I hope they both have productive seasons.

I'm as excited about Evans as the next Phinz fan, but he's still very rough around the edges, and needs experience. He could turn out to be a great player for us in the future, but it's alittle early to be calling the next great DT in Miami....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

True but you gotta admit that he's off to a great start though. :)

If he averages about a sack a game and explodes through the line (like in preseason) I'll accept rough around the edges :D

Obviously I dont think he will do that 16 sacks is unheard of for a DT I think 4-6 would be amazing if he saw enough playing time, but he is going to be a very good player

Definatly a steal. I mean, even if he doesnt become a pro bowler... and just becomes a good starter... that is still a steal in the 7th round!

Look for Big Daddy to be in there ahead Fred. This is a big game and Saban im sure feels Fred might not be quite ready for this type of game.
