Big Mac Experiment

Hopefully Dallas Thomas is ready to step in at OG and we keep Cog. Pouncey stays and sure Martin at right. I see nothing wrong with address LT in the draft, but I don't know who will be available to get that's worth it. As long as we resign Starks or Solai (please Solai), Grimes, and even Clemmons we have a good enough team to draft BPA around from 2-7. Sure, we still have some "needs" but we also have a lot of young guys that could come up and fill those needs. LT is a priority though. Sadly.

Cool, lets do nothing about our OL because changing personnel on the worst OL in the league might make us the worst OL in the league. Makes sense.
Yes, because that's exactly what I said. If we don't draft 5 O-linemen (6 including the traded pick for McKinnie), then the only other possible option is to do nothing at all. You nailed it. Love the extremist nonsense.

I like the McKinnie trade and I'm actually okay with drafting a tackle outside of the top ten, assuming that's where we land, depending on who else is available at our spot. But drafting 5 OL is asinine.

Albert and Clady wont hit the market. I'm fine with drafting 5 OL in April. Pouncey is the only one worth starting and Martin should be a backup.

I'd be fine with "YOU" drafting 5 offensive lineman but NOT Ireland

But drafting 5 OL is asinine.

The 5 OL wasn't a literal statement FYI. I don't think any team has drafted 5 OL in 1 draft since they reduced it to 7 rounds. Realistically, it will be a mix of a few draft picks and a few free agents imo.

So, it appears most want yet another complete shuffling of a unit that requires more experience together than probably any other unit on the team. Hey, it's worked every other year for the past decade, so why not try, try again? And 5 rookie OL? Yeah, that will work out great. I'd be looking forward to the calls for yet more OL draft picks and FA signings next year when that doesn't work either. Not to mention the fact that it wouldn't do much to improve a mediocre offense.
Meh...probably don't need 5 rookie OL...could probably do with just 4.

Miami needs to go ape shat drafting and bringing in free agent offensive lineman - we need minimum 2 starters and preferably 3 or 4 with pouncy being the only player I truly feel is worthy of calling a champion caliber player.

We need to draft 3 players - we need to bring in 3 starting caliber free agents - and we need to bring in 6 or 7 udfa - canadian football league guys and anyone else that has any semblance of a chance to make our squad.

We need to make this a super priority and get some athletic guys who are not going to cave when the going gets intense!

The chemistry thing ain't there now so lets ALL move on!!!!

We need a LT and hope that Martin can handle the RT. McKinney is about done. I think he is just the best of all bad options that were available right now.

if Dallas Thomas can develop, then obviously that's a transaction less we have to worry about

Haven't we been adding free agents and high draft choices on the OL for what seems like the last ten years....and this OL is what we have to show for it.....WOW

No, they don't. I wish there was this kind of reaction when we needed to address the far more important position on the team though. It may not have taken over a decade.

Exactly. But hell, let's keep doing it. But don't forget, we did have Long for several years, which helped us accomplish absolutely nothing.

He tried something. Hopefully it works! Personally, I think we need to put garner at center and pouncey at guard. He is a very good center but he would be a GREAT PULLING GUARD.

I think we'll see up to 4 new OL acquisitions from the draft and FA. But, if this line starts to become a decent cohesive unit over the final half of the season, I think you have to lean more towards 3 drafted OL and 1 FA. Chemistry is so important on the line. And if the current line can get it together, I think you replace Jerry, keep Cog, Martin, Pouncey and McKinnie and draft guys to groom.

As serious as our problem is right now, if the line fixes itself you don't want to replace too many guys or you start over with new problems that need more time.

We've also gotta hope at some point Dallas Thomas becomes part of the solution next year. Maybe replaces Jerry? Or becomes our permanent swing tackle?

that's because Miami didn't have a qb. I think all the pieces are here, to at least make the playoffs...minus the oline.

Has anyone considered the fact that since most of the o-line aren't a good fit for Philbin and Sherman's blocking schemes, it might be easier and quicker to change the schemes? The line wasn't this bad before; it wasn't great, but they weren't constantly getting beat. I admit that I know nothing about the Xs and Os of football and I honestly couldn't say what Sherman's blocking schemes are, but even I can see that the line play has consistently been getting worse since Philbin and Sherman arrived. We complained about Sparano's o-line, but they were never this bad. What changed? The offensive system changed. The passing game looks like it could really be something, but the QB needs time in the pocket, and the WRs need time to get open. IMO, whatever this coaching staff has done differently from the last regime regarding the o-line is NOT working! Why can't they just change the way they want the linemen to block? This wouldn't work with Martin since he's too weak, but everyone else performed adequately under the previous regime.

WRs (outside of Hartline, I see nothing but inconsistency), RBs, TE, safety, and LB. Still missing pieces to be serious contenders. Hardly just the o-line.
