Big misses last 2 drafts

Yes we should have drafted every player we didnt draft.

Is this close to what the OP is trying to say. This is about as ridiculous as drafting a DE in the top three when there are or were huge holes to fill elsewhere.

and here's a nugget i know people don't want to hear...if dion jordan doesn't develop his rush arsenal that picks never gonna validate a trade up into the top 5 either...right now he is so one dimensional as a rusher...

i would work him to death on a redirect back inside move this offseason and work on how quick he gets off the ball...

The jury is obviously still out, but Jordan has done nothing to impress me. I honestly was hoping we would stand pat in the draft and take Eifert. We had/have a ton of needs and we weren't in a position to trade up. I really wanted Tank Carradine in the 2nd. Had a shot at him if we kept the 2 picks.

Personally I find it laughable that anyone can still defend Ireland after what we've seen the last few years. I think I'm still in shock that he traded Marshall for two 3rds. Say what you want about the guy, say he didn't fit the system, new coach didn't like him, whatever man. The guy is a top 4-5 receiver in this league, only getting 2 3rds in return for that kind of talent is sheer insanity.

Kind of hard for him to impress when Philbin doesn't play him except for on third downs. He is still getting adjusted to the NFL. He was undersized when he came in for where they were trying to use him. I would suspect he will be playing full time by the end of the year or starting next year. He is a tweener and needs to either be a d-end or outside lb. I would much rather see him as a full time OLB who can line up and get into the 5-7 technique and come after the qb.

Mike James had a very productive game for Tampa Bay today. I thought he and Gillislee were comparable. So far, James has been quite a bit better.

Dion Jordan is a puzzle because he's indeed extremely one dimensional. If he gets leverage he's dangerous but so often he's quickly nullified to the outside. At that point he's stumped and merely bounces around. Plus you can't have him out there on run plays. At our original spot I would have debated between Eifert and Richardson, as I posted on draft day. Richardson wouldn't have fit a glaring need but IMO disruptive defensive tackles are invaluable, cleansing an entire defense and shortening the play.

One dimensional? Which dimension, the one that rushes the passer or the one that goes out and covers Gronk?

I'd like to see the dimension that is on the field more than 15 plays a game. And no, special teams doesn't count (when's the last time the 3rd pick in the draft gets most of his time on special teams anyway???)

Jordan's pass rushes all look the same.

Covering Gronkowski was interesting but it's mostly trivia. We can't rely on that type of thing often or long term. Anyone who suggests otherwise is kidding themselves. Opponents would quickly find ways to counter and abuse. Besides, if Jordan gains enough weight to become competent against the run, it naturally takes away from his cover ability.

Here we go again. Armchair critics who look at who we may have or should have drafted instead of who we did draft. I have said it before, everyone, please nominate your 2014 Miami draft picks and why they are shoe ins for pro bowl, all rookie, HOF candidates.

Anyone remember when people were saying how great the 2012 draft was and how Ireland is learning?

That was cool.

I'd bet 100 bucks someone on this forum is pissed we didn't take Keenum in the 7th instead of RT in the first.

Ireland can't construct an OL to save the little red hairs on his taint...

I gave him the benefit of the doubt that a lot of that was bad development from the coaches or poor fit in the transition from Sparano to Philbin, but that can't explain multiple high picks, hundreds of millions of dollars on FA busts, and all we have to show for it is an OL giving up sacks at a historic pace and all the dysfunction surrounding the personnel on the OL these days.

Done with Ireland, and I am personally done with Philbin as well. Still letting them try for the playoffs, but if they miss, I want them both out PRONTO. But I don't trust Ross. He will **** it up like he always does because he is nutless and just does whatever King Carl "advises" him to do...
