Big Paul is leaving miami

There are soooo many decent DT's in FA. I am not worried.

It's going to be a shame to see Soliai go, but I think they had their priorities right re-signing Grimes.

Hickey plan is simple, let Soliai walk resign Starks.

You assume Starks is agreeable to coming back. I think the incident with him giving the sideline the finger earlier this season was all about telling Ireland and Philbin that there would no chance in hell that he is returning.

It's funny to watch this thread. When somebody suggests that a player like Soliai or Starks be traded we get hundreds of posts saying they are irreplaceable Hall of Fame talents. As soon as their agent says "Show Me The Money" they become bums who are no longer needed or wanted.

Franchise tag for Soliai is $9.654 million. That seems like a lot for him. I doubt he gets tagged.

I'd take that for him in a heartbeat. Where do I sign? This is going to be a very robust demand for both Soliai and Starks. They are the type of players Seattle dominated with and the league will want them. Soliai is the run-stuffing anchor DT or NT, whereas Starks is the prototypical quick gap-jumping DT. I doubt we can re-sign Starks, and with Odrick and Shelby, we have coverage for that spot. But, without Soliai, we really have no run defense. He is a must-resign. He ill command more bank than that Franchise tag if it truly is that low.

For the defense we run Id keep Starks over Soliai. But that is not meant to be a knock on him. I am a big fan of Soliai.

Those of you thinking we can run our current defense with undersized gap penetrators like Starks, Odrick and Shelby without a strong space eater to free up LB's are mistaken. No matter how you slice it, we don't have the power inside to keep our LB's clean, and without active LB's this entire defense falls apart.

I tried to tell everyone last year we needed to keep Jake Long and that Jonathan Martin wasn't good enough. I can't believe people think Hickey's first order of business is to duplicate that error on the defensive side by not resigning Paul Soliai. He is a must re-sign.

The rush defense will be a liability this season... The dolphins have a habit of creating holes to fill others. Moving deck chairs on the Titanic

good for him. Paul deserves big money. Love to keep him, but he isnt irreplaceable.....

I would not be the least bit surprised if DT is the first type of player called on draft day

I'll miss this dearly...

Just my two cents: I don't think anyone can blame Paul Soliai for taking the Big Money. Keeping Grimes in a Phin's uni was a bigger priority as we need to have guys who can shut down Brady's passing game, more so than the Pat's running game. The Jets cannot run the ball, but we are going to need a run stopper against the Bills and CJ Spiller.

I think Timmy Jernigan or Aaron Donald could be targets if they drop to us, especially if we could sign LT Eugene Monroe. If not, than Zack Martin OT/OG, Notre Dame could still be our 1st round pick. If Donald were to slip past the Cowboys, whose defense stinks, than I would be running to the podium to get him.
