Big Tuna jumps into free-agent waters, but where's the splash?

I like what I have seen so far, building the supporting cast though FA. Now lets hope we can upgrade starters via the draft. Its how the Paties have done it, seemed to work good for them. So I am still on a wait and see til after the draft. Good read though.

good read tho nothing we didn't already know

Ozzy rules!!

Yea i was surprised to not to get big names,I thought we would of picked up moss or chad ...what gets to me is we have no deep threat to through the football.

Ginn? maybe? He has the speed....maybe he needs to develoup a bit..

I'm just hoping we can field a solid competitive team this season. I'm not looking for miracles of any sort just looking for them to win some games. 5 this year, 7 next year, from there who knows.

Sorry, but I thought it was pretty much a waste of time. It's hard to tell just what his stand on the team's moves is (likes, dislikes, or neutral?), because he wavers between commendation and criticism. The article just seems too wishy-washy, as if it were written so that no matter how well or poorly Miami's newest FAs play, he can point to it and say, "See, I was right".

If Miami were a player or two away from contention, such signings might have made sense. However, they are rebuilding, and in such a situation, a lot of lower-to-middle-priced FAs are better than relatively few high-priced ones.

the thing he didnt mention or he just didnt figure out is MOST of the players
he brought in are GOODa special teams players.

i am sure i do not have to write a thesis on how bad the finz "special" teams
play was the last couple years.

and we lost more than a couple games BECAUSE of that!

i used to hate seeing all the playrs taken after the 2nd round from the previous
regimes stating they were picked because they played on special teams.

when they should have been looking for STARTERS in those later rounds, not
giving up and saying "well, we'll take him, he can play special teams".

and the other teams are picking up jewels in the later rounds.

parcells is doing the RIGHT THING! rebuilding the roster from ground up, getting
the special teams guys who are young, and good and KNOWN by the trifecta!

then they will not have to fill up rounds 3 -7 with special teams in mind. just
taking best player available through those rounds and mining for jewels.

boring? yes. but smart? no.

it's BRILLIANT!!!!

This to me is news that was already known.

I like and dislike the moves so far.

First of all. Ginn Jr IMO deserves atleast 3 years as a WR to truly call him a bust or whatever you wanna call him, however as a return man there are no excuses this year. Parcells set Ginn up beautifully with these acquisitions, if Ginn doesn't succeed this year as a return man then he will be a bust IMO in that aspect. I likedc this however, because Parcells in 1 offseason fixed(potentially) 1 of our 3 areas . Offense defense and Special Teams. He saw a Weapon in Ginn and did what he could to get the best out of that weapon.

I also like the fact that we didn't break the bank for some of the FA'S. On a rebuilding team I am not so upset that we won't go after guys like Chad Johnson. As much as I want him here I can understand.

Now what I don't like so far is the fact the guys like Vilma/Walker and Hall could have been Phins. I understand you build through the draft. I agree with that but we are talking about a top notch CB who isn't even 25 yet. I just felt, with the cap space we had we could have made that trade signed Hall to an enormous contract and not have been crippled by it. Right now the money invested in Hall would have been PROVEN better money then invested in any draft pick we pick at #1 simply because we have no clue how any of the draftees will transition. However, we know, Hall is proven a a VERY good CB.

I think Tuna could have made a bigger push for some of the younger guys.

All in all though, i am happy where the team is headed. If we select ryan or Jake Long #1 overall I can clearly see and agree where Parcells is going. If we select Chris Long #1 overall I will seriously be scratching my head and not seeing quite where he is going. I am not Knocking Chris. To me he is a beast. But In Chris I see a guy who will get manhandled quite a bit in the NFL. I would rather personally, take the Tackle who will be our franchise LT for 10 years or take a shot at the best QB in the draft who will be here for as long. In other words I see Jake Long helping and contributing faster and longer the Chris Long

I can't really figure out his stance. Is Carucci for or against the Dolphins moves? He seems to go back and forth in that article.

Bingo, right on target.
