I was thinking about it and I think the biggest mistake of the Wanny/Spielman era was when they let Griese go. I'm not sure whos call it was but in retrospect he has turned into a decent QB for the Bucs. With an improved OL, which I feel we are finally starting to see, Griese may have been a decent QB for us. His lackluster season with us prob had a lot to do with our crappy OL play. Although I beleive he throws a few too many picks, he may have been an upgrade to what we have on the roster now. What do you think?

I agree that they should have kept him and dumped Fiedler. Even if they still wanted to trade for Feeley.

Jamar Fletcher...

i know it's hindsight, but the following players were chosen in 2001 AFTER fletcher, and before Chambers in round 2:

Michael Bennett
Todd Heap
Reggie Wayne
Algie Crumper
Chad Johnson
Kris Jenkins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maurice Williams
Dominic Raiola

*sigh*

I just wish Shula would have stayed on a few years longer...we never would have had JJ or had JJ pick Wanny as his succesor....Dan Marino would have gone out much better too.

I don't know if anyone noticed, but Griese sucked when he was here. We can blame that on Wanny's incompetence, but the fact is Griese was not working and did not have a fire for the game. He will always have ability, but even when he plays well, he doesn't seem to elevate his team to victory.

Griese's still got alot to prove. One decent season in TB does not make him a savior.

The obvious answer is not having a solid plan B to back up the plan A in case it failed, which was entirely based around Ricky Williams.

i know it...IT IS NOT MENTIONED MUCH, but I have thought about that so much.....

He was let go because of the way his contract was set up, we would not have been able to keep him and the rest of the players that Wanny wanted to keep...btw, that was not Speilman's doings...that was when Wanny was in control...

Bottom line, we would not have Feeley right now if Griese were here, but would we be any better ?? I don't really know...Griese had a hard time beating out Chris Simms in Tampa, still might not...
