As Buffalo tries to prevent Cleveland from winning its first game of the season on Sunday, Rex Ryan is probably coaching his final games as the Bills' head coach, according to league sources.

Ryan is aware of what's ahead, sources said, which creates an awkward situation surrounding the Bills until the change is made.

While Buffalo is preparing to move on from Ryan, the organization is expected to retain its general manager Doug Whaley, who is expected to be given a chance to hire his third different head coach, after having a hand in the hirings of Ryan and former Bills head coach Doug Marrone. But the cycle of change in Buffalo is expected to continue.

Hopefully they promote Rob Ryan :)

Wish they would can him now, the players like Rex and I think they will try to rally for one last hurrah. Browns, Dolphins, Jets.

Interim coaches are usually good for a bump but some of the guys in that locker room love Rex and will go all-out for him.

Hope that the Bills fire him today and declare Cardale Jones the starter for week 16.

if the bills are going to fire him, they should of done it last week. He would be coming off another loss and the playoffs would be out of reach. Bills have a legit shot of going 3-0 to end the season which makes firing a 9-7 rex more difficult. Still that bills team is really talented, more so than the dolphins and definitely more than the jets and its going to be another lost season for them. He took over a 9-7 team and hasn't made them any better

FWIW I think Rex has improved from his Jets days. But at the end of the day Rex is what he is. An average NFL coach.
The Bills dont have those head scratching losses where you hear half the team missed curfew on the road trip like you did with the Jets.

This seemed more like a stupid marriage from the get go and failure was just as much Whaley/Pegula's(who apparently had a hard on for Rex) fault as it was Rex's.

Whaley/Pegula were hoping to get Rex Ryan circa 2009-10 a guy who can take over a group of vets and squeeze 10-20% more juice out of them. They brought in Roman, Tyrod and McCoy with the hopes that the offense would run on autopilot.
Rex relished the opportunity to stick it to the Jets so much that he jumped right back into the saddle even if it wasnt necessarily the best option for him either.

That defense was tailor made for Jim Schwartz who kept things simple and let the Dline talent feast.
Dareus, KWill, MWill and Hughes all had career years under those last days of Schwartz.
Put in those complicated 3-4 Rex Ryan schemes and it all nosedived.

Ironically the offense under Anthony Lynn has generally done its job.
