The NFL has signed all but six of the players drafted in May’s NFL Draft. They include two 2nd round receivers taken by the Jaguars, Marqise Lee and Allen Robinson as well as three first round picks. Justin Gilbert, Taylor Lewan, and Domique Easley.

Then you drop to the third round and you realize that everyone drafted past the 61st pick has been signed except the number 67th. Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Billy Turner.

There is no news as to why the Dolphins have failed to get him under contract but you would think that with everyone around him signed he would have as well. The Dolphins signed Ja’Wuan James last week and had already locked up 2nd round pick Jarvis Landry. It’s unlikely that Turner won’t be signed by the time the teams training camp starts but it is odd that a third round pick is keeping the team from having all of their players signed. Somewhere, someone is asking for something or demanding something that the other party doesn’t like. :err:

Anyone know why he hasn't signed yet? :ponder:

Maybe Turner hates Miami. Maybe Hickey regrets the pick and doesn't plan to sign him. Maybe there is some sort of major scandal involving him.

Or maybe he just hasn't signed and will sign way before the July 24th deadline when they need to sign him for camp. I wouldn't spend any time worrying about it.

This is actually some pretty good news in my opinion. This is a indication that maybe Hickey "gets it". Maybe he is fighting for some offset language all the way down to the 3rd rd. I don't know, but at least he is fighting for whats best for the team, or at least that is how it would seem. One of the few things Ireland WAS good at was fighting for the team's interest and assets. The little things add up over the course of 53 players. If a GM can save 200k per player contract per year x 53 players that would be over 10 million in savings. That would be the difference in being able to sign a $10 million free agent.

I get so frustrated at the fans who make comments like, "well it isn't my money so just pay the man what he wants". It's like they don't have any understanding of the ramifications of the effects of overpaying just one player, much less what it means if you make overpaying your normal plan of action. Every dollar saved is more money that can be used to continue to upgrade our roster.

Now let me say before you do, I certainly have no information that money is the reason Turner isn't signed, I am just making the observation that IF it is, then that is a GOOD thing, not a bad one.

It's not a race to sign these guys. Contracts are for the most part slotted so that's a non issue. Its just a matter of working out the fine print so both sides can agree upon it. No big deal.

He'll sign. After the collective bargaining agreement I'm not particularly worried about holdouts. Kid knows he can't afford to miss snaps and meeting time ... He will sign.

Sent from my phone, so please forgive any typos.

Turner has probably been to busy to sign his contract. I am sure being an entry level dealer for Pouncey's drug cartel takes up most of his time with the crazy hours a dope slinger has to work around.

Lol...we should see who can come up with the best excuse for no contract since this is a total non-issue.

I think he's debating playing in the NFL vs being a YouTube superstar. He's waiting for his Cherry Chocolate rain remix reception before a final decision.

I really can't see Pouncey using any more OL guys to be a part of his franchise after the trouble last year. I imagine Mike will keep his side business on the side. Too many public figures in your cartel can cause problems. I would imagine Mike is more concerned in how to get all the needed contraban to Hernandez behind bars.

He is also tied up studying on what should be on the next offensive hat/tee-shirt that he can wear in public, or the next moronic statement he can make on social media. Those things don't just come to ya, ya have to work at being that stupid.

It's the offset language.

Being a 3rd round pick, the "next team pays rest of guaranteed money" is big because he might not make the team. (with the disaster OL I doubt this, but I'm sure that is what the agent is telling him).

So sure, Turner might get say $2 guaranteed by the Fins, but gets cut after season 1 if offset language is present and no other team picks him up then he is out $.

That is why most will ask for bigger upfront money due to offset language.

He found out they don't hold offensive line meetings at the strip club anymore

Maybe it's because they haven't decided if he is going to play guard or tackle, the money would be different.
