### North Dakota State offensive tackle Billy Turner, an under-the-radar offensive lineman who really intrigues the Dolphins, has been summoned to team headquarters today, and part of Thursday, to meet with Dolphins coaches and front office officials, according to a source.

He is the 17th player we've confirmed has been invited to visit the Dolphins; teams are allowed to bring in no more than 30 non-local players, plus an unlimited number of players who went to college or high school locally.

Turner is projected as a mid-round pick by NFL.com's Nolan Nawrocki, but his stock has risen and he easily could go on Day 2 of the three-day draft.

"Big-framed, raw, aggressive FCS standout who flashes a nice combination of foot quickness, punch strength and nastiness," Nawrocki said. "Smart, hard working, dependable."

It would not be surprising if the Dolphins draft two tackles.

ideal scheme fit but needs work...if you want him better take him at 50 doubt it gets out of the top 75 even with some technique etc that needs to be cleaned up...

I like him...I think 50 is a little early....may need to trade up for him to the early 3rd if you really want him. Not sure he would be an immediate started but has the ability to be a very solid tackle.

He'd be ideal to be kicked inside as a pulling Guard. Perfect ZBS fit.

Not sure I like him at #50 as I think he needs a lot of work and not sure how much he could contribute in 2014, but I agree that I am not sure he makes to Miami's pick at #81 either. I do think Miami could trade back in round two and possibly get him as there should be plenty of trade partners at #50.

I would take him. He looks like a mauler, and played for a team that is accustomed to winning.

This is the guy I want in round 3. May have to trade up into the 3rd to get him, but he could start at RT or RG right now.....for it Hickey!!!!

Option 1: round 1 Zach Martin, round 3 Billy Turner and round 5 or 6 Spencer Long
or
Option 2: Xavier Su'a-Filo, Billy Turner and Spencer Long

If Miami can find a way to make it happen I would be the happiest kid on the block and I would promise not ask for another lineman in the top four rounds until 2017 or 2018. Miami's core line would include - tackles (Albert, Turner and Fox), guards (Martin or Filo, Smith and Long). Add Pouncey in the middle and two depth guys like Dallas Thomas and Nate Garner and I'm ready for the season to start.

I know a lot of people hate the idea of drafting three linemen, but I'm telling you either option 1 or 2 would help make this the best Dolphin draft in a decade. Okay I know the past decade hasn't set a high bar to eclipse, but still you get my point.

Option. 2 pretty pretty please....Could grab Pryor in round one then

I've been able to watch a lot of North Dakota State football games. Billy Turner is the real deal and he couldn't come from a better program. NDSU stresses teamwork and as good as he was, he was just another member of the team. He has been a good character guy and hard worker. I think he'll make it in the NFL. In the Senior Bowl he did quite well against the big boys, although NDSU doesn't fear the bowl guys because they've won their last four games against them including Kansas St this year. They have another player, the CB Williams that may be worth a late pick or UDFA. He was a standout with a record number of interceptions and was also a stellar kick return guy. He isn't rated highly because he gambled too much, thinking he could intercept everything resulting in some big plays against him. I believe he has the talent, but he would need to coached up before making it at the next level. I would love to see Billy Turner, a Bison, on the Dolphins. It means the local media will follow how he's doing in the NFL and I'll get more Dolphins news!

I have no idea how you can pick this kid at #50. That's much higher than Armstead went last year, and this is supposedly a deeper and more talented draft.

At the Senior Bowl I thought Turner looked like a decent prospect but not even close to the same athletic ability as Armstead.

I think it's a bit of a force, trying to pretend a small college kid is better than he is.

Here's the Senior Bowl practice summary from a respected draft site. I think they were a bit harsh, but not much. I had heard plenty about Turner as a whispered prospect entering that week. I thought he might be an Armstead-caliber athlete but it wasn't remotely close. You can see the frame and some skills but if we were in a major program I doubt the buzz would be there. In supposedly an above average draft our aspirations have to be higher than Billy Turner.

Besides, the great Billy Turner must be in his 70s by now, more than 35 years past the career of Seattle Slew.

Billy Turner OL North Dakota

6050 316 10 1/4 33 1/4

Mon: Struggled and had coaches screaming at him. Lined up at right tackle but never seemed to get his feet underneath him. Lacked balance, footwork and not a good start to the week

Tues: Not a good day for Turner. Lined up at right tackle and was torched throughout the practice. Consistently beaten like a drum.

Wed: Played a lot of guard. Was slightly better but in the end did nothing to improve his draft stock. Tough three days for Turner.

he is one of my fav players in this draft and i thrilled the finz have him on radar..

i dont see us taking a left tackle in the first round considering we just grabbed a pro bowl lt and payed him mass bux. i know most think we are for sure going o-line in round 1, but i am not convinced.

however.......... the 2nd round, maybe. i believe ALL the big time, most talked about tackles will be gone, including martin and you dont take a guy who is strictly rt at #19. but if turner is there in the 2nd, that would be WAY to good to pass up. i personally want a DB in round one as our secondary is NO WHERE NEAR championship level and in this day and age of the fly hi nfl, it is VITAL you have big talent across the board in the secondary. we do not.

CALVIN PRYOR in the first round and BILLY TURNER in the second would be a great 1-2 punch. billy would be a great TEMPORARY rt and legit replacement for albert at lt when he is done or if out with injury.

but i dont think turner is as under the radar with teams as some think. teams wont hype him because they want a guy like him to STAY under the wire. you can bet there are more than a few that are praying he gets to them at the spot they want him.

guys who play left tackle, true lt's who have played there whole hi school and college career at the position want to be drafted as LEFT TACKLES and the top tier would not want to be drafted and stuck at right tackle. there's money, now and in the future involved in that. LT's demand more money in f/a. and they want to be known as LT's by the time there contract is up. there are a dozen legit great rt prospects in the draft and the finz can get one in the 3rd.

billy turner though, if he is a second round pic, there is more wiggle room in the money. and he may get the starting lt job sooner than he thinks depending on how healthy albert stays.

and the finz, if they should trade down, that is where they might have to take turner as i think he could very well be gone in the second before miami picks again.

but this guy is going to be a productive lt on a nfl team for sure. i see a PURE lt in billy turner. he is one of those guys like richmond webb who had a wingspan like a 747!
