You know, Thomas had a holding call and Thomas had 2 noticeable plays in which 1. him and Pouncey went in different directions and Thomas didn't get enough contact on his man in time and didn't wanna get a holding call and he effected Ryan's throw . . . . the 2nd one was on a stunt in which Thomas went to help on Pouncey's guy and Woodyard came around and Thomas got a chip but it wasn't nearly enough.
What doens't get mentioned is how well both him and Turner performed today in the running game. They were both very good. Thomas had key blocks all over the place today and was pulling with a lot of success in the running game and Turner was just a nimble cat down the field.
Yet we are suggesting pulling him for the worst rated guard in the NFL in Jamil Douglas? Come on people. Yea Thomas isn't great or anything, but funny how there are 60 some odd snaps in the game and people are scared to bring up a lot of the good he did today, and just focus on the bad. The guards jump started the running game today.
Thomas's main problem is strength at the POA . . . he just has real crappy leverage and against stronger DT's it certainly is noticeable, but Miami is moving him around and you can actually see what they like in him . . . problem is, he is very inconsistent and often not the brightest bulb in the box on certain plays
He may be what he is . . . but I think he is our best option at LG right now, and as long as we keep that balance, he IMo can still function a serviceable, unspectacular role at guard in 2015. Douglas was getting beat off the snap repeatedly the first 4 weeks of the year . . . not sure a switch of sides changes that this year.
