8-8 sounds about right
With Henne starting my prediction is 2-14.
I said the difference between the two is likely a trip to the playoffs. No team is going to make the playoffs at 6-10, teams who go 9-7 have a decent chance.
A 7-9 team made the playoffs so never say never.
It doesn't happen every year, but it does happen.
One of those 9-7 teams were the New York Jets, who just happened to make the AFC Championship game.
Again, 9 win teams made the playoffs.
The Redskins made it as a wildcard that year with a 9-7 record.
9-7 gives you a chance to make the playoffs, 6-10 does not. You said there is no difference in winning 6-9 games or 1-4. Yet there is a HUGE difference, with 9 wins you are in the playoff hunt.
Better team and easier schedule = worse record. I'm confused.
Maybe you just didn't understand what I was saying. Again, this is what I said:I stated 9 wins is mediocre, and defined mediocre as finishing in the middle of the league in standings(and there for the draft). I used the 1-4 wins as an example for being defined as a team that just sucked.
For us, finishing between 6-9 wins will, most likely, earn us a draft pick in the top 18 picks. Just because we won 3 more games to "exceed expectations" doesn't mean its a good thing, an acceptable thing, and the only good it will do is have us picking just above the middle of the draft.
And i did miss the Redskins, so let me amend my statement: in the last 4 years a massive 3 out of 10 teams have entered the wildcard round of the playoffs with a 9-7 record. The other seven landed in the middle of the league standings. While you seem to want to focus on the 3 teams that made it, i look at the other 7 that missed.
And because the Cardinals and Seahawks won their division with subpar records means the AFC East will be won with subpar records? Well, we can look at that to. Of the 32 division winners over that same time period only 4 teams have won their division with a 9-7 or lower record. Tampa in '07(second place team finished 7-9), Chargers in '08(Broncos also finished with a 8-8 record), Arizona in '08(second place team finished 7-9), and Seahawks in '10(second place team 7-9).
If the Patriots do fall apart and finish 8-8 and below and we go on to win the division with 9 wins, i will gladly eat my crow. But, realistically, i think its safe to say they will hit at least double digit wins. If these are peoples expectations, that all the other teams around us will fall apart and we will climb up to a glorious 9-7 record, then what does that really say about the confidence in our front office?

So for what it's worth they have us at 6-10. Losing our first two and final 3 games.

Maybe you just didn't understand what I was saying. Again, this is what I said:
"It is not the same thing, the difference between 6 and 9 wins is likely a trip to the playoffs."
This was in reference to the post where you said this:
"People might expect 6 wins, but even if Sparano hits 9 thats still mediocre. Thats not so different then expecting us to win 1 game, then winning 4."
The point I was making is that 1 or 4 games is not the same as 6 or 9 wins. If you win 1 or 4 games you are not making the playoffs, no argument there. If you win 6 games, you are not making the playoffs, however if you win 9 games, playoffs is a distinct possibility. I didn't say a team was LIKELY to make the playoffs, I said the difference is likely a trip to the playoffs. Meaning it is possible with 9 wins but not with 6. Again, refuting your comparison that there is no difference between a 1-4 win season or a 6-9 win season.
People might expect 6 wins, but even if Sparano hits 9 thats still mediocre. Thats not so different then expecting us to win 1 game, then winning 4. Yes, you did better then expected, but you still sucked.
For all those predicting between 4-6 wins, do you endorse retaining Sparano if he wins between 7-9 wins? After all, he will have greatly exceeded your expectations.

Dolphins have enough question marks that they could win 6 games or 12 games. Pointless discussion really. Rain check this til the bye week.
