Bleacher Report: why mike Wallace will have a big game Monday night

Wallace is what he was in Pittsburgh. He'll have one huge game, then 4 mediocre ones. He is not a true number 1 receiver, but Free Agency is all about overpaying, which they did. If they didn't overpay, they wouldn't have gotten him and that would have drawn criticism as well because of how weak our receivers were last season.

He does a good job of taking the number 1 db off Hartline and previously Gibson. I would venture to say the ball distribution on this team is mostly due to him.

The thing is, Wallace can't catch. Literally. He never extends his hands out for a catch. He owns the last name Baskett, more than Hank does. He's not a true receiver and by instinct never will be. He is Ginn Jr with guts, but no hands. Just another horrible Ireland acquisition.

If you look at his numbers last year in Pitt, they aren't much different that what we are getting...except TD's...

I do not think he has a big game tomorrow.

I didn't want him. I knew that would be an enormous waste money. I would have preferred to have drafted Tavon Austin (I REALLY wanted us to get that guy) who is a true difference maker. What a shame we threw so much money at this guy. I can NOT even imagine him having a big game tomorrow...or next week...or the next...etc...

Biggest waste of $60 million I have ever seen.

I think your speaking too soon.

I knew Wallace wouldnt tear it up right away, but he has gotten better these past few weeks in learning this offense.

The 60 million is over 5 years. Lets live a little here OK? And he didnt get 60 million. He's gotten a third of that or something along those lines. Lets keep it in perspective with the 60 mil.

Wallace is obviously being bullied by Incognito....

I'm not gonna jump on the "biggest waste of money" ship quite yet... but I never wanted him at the contract he demanded. I knew he was going to get $10mil+ a year, I was just hoping it wasn't from us. If we got him for 5 years $45mil I would have been stoked. He is what he is, and that is not a $12mil/year receiver.

It's not about getting comfy with T-hill or a better understanding of the offense. The kid can't catch. He doesn't have the hands to be a true WR. He never catches the the ball his hands. Not trying to be a prick, it's just fact watching his game. And so for me then, any contract he recieves in that ballpark is a complete waste.
