You show such promise
​

We should be used to this by now
​

One step forward,
​

Ten steps back,
​

Disappointment never changes
​

​

Year after year, the memory of roaring crowds,
​

Of unmatched glory, respect and grit,​

And hoisting that sleek sterling silver form,​

For the world to witness,​

Fades away​

​

They say to hope for a light at the end of the tunnel​

For us there is no light but never ending darkness​

Only anger, sadness and disbelief fuel us​

As others surpass our achievements,​

While we fumble in darkness
Gutless, weak and incompetent

​

​

It is a decades long train-wreck​

We cry out for change
And reap only failure
​

For the ignorant and the blind always lead us,
To the land of wasted opportunities
​

While usurpers
​

Shadow our legacy
​

​

As we stand among the shattered ruins of our once proud dynasty​

I wonder as I gaze out across a sea of black ash
This is where hope goes to die
​
