For starters, I was focused mostly on the passing game today, and there was lot's of it going on which made it more exciting to watch. Cameron is obviously making a strong impact thus far in regards to making our passing game more respectable. There's clearly rust, and I didn't walk away overly impressed with any one Qb that participated today, but that's to be expected at this stage.....

Qb Cleo Lemon was clearly the most comfortable, and when the defensive front isn't in his face, he can be accurate enough to make most short / medium throws. Today during the no rush drills he was solid, but once he lined up during the 11 / 11 drills, he was under a lot of pressure, and wasn't able to make any plays from what I saw. The timing is clearly a work in progress on offense for Lemon when facing our defense. The rush is making it very difficult at this stage....

Qb Gibran Hamdan, who is currently stated as the #2 Qb, looked average today in my opinion. He's a tall guy, and has some decent accuracy during drills, but I didn't see much that really made me excited. His days could be numbered once Green is signed / delivered. He, like Lemon struggled today when facing the defense in the 11/11 drills....

Qb John Beck was the guy I was mostly looking forward to watching, and to be honest with everyone, not to put too much into it, he looked like a rookie Qb out there for the most part. He wasn't impressive, but there's hope for him in my opinion....

He does have nice accuracy on the shorter routes, and from what I saw today, the rumors of him not being able to throw it deep should end. He can go deep, just how accurate his deep ball can be remains to be seen. I like Beck, but let's not push him too fast, he needs time to develope in my opinion. Maybe he'll be ready in 2008, at least let's hope so....

Once again, when Beck faced a real defensive front, he struggled to do anything. He may have hit an underneith route here or there, but I saw the pocket collapse on him once{sack}, and then he took a drop in the pocket that was too deep, and he was forced to hold the ball ending the play, basically taking another sack. He took off running with the ball one time as well, and it was a good play. Seeing that, I think he should be a semi-illusive Qb when he takes off with the ball. Cool....

Overall, this offense has a loooooooong way to go in order to catch this defense. But hey, that's what the off-season is for. Let's face it, it's extremely early in the game right now, and there's still plenty of time to make the corrections we need. I will say this, it would be a huge bonus at this stage to get Qb Trent Green into camp, working with the guys and building a comfort level....

A couple of stand outs were...

FB Reagan Mauia - He's got pretty soft hands for a big guy. He's also a hustler, and looked very ready to practice today. I liked what I saw in him for most of the day during the drills....

The OL drills - It's obvious that Houck is wasting no time in working this group of guys to death. They were fun to watch during drills today, and although they weren't particularly great when the 11/11 drills started, they were worked hard today no doubt. Effort was the key here today on the OL, and that's what I like to see right now. Even though it's a major work in progress, there's competition all over the place....

It was a well organized, and very pass happy session today. The defense dominated the 11/11 drills, but that's the way it goes when everything is still new and coming together. I look forward to seeing them again tomorrow. Hope you enjoyed it....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

Thanks for the report. I always enjoy them. Good to hear that the Juggernaut looked ready. He's hungry for some linebackers.

Hagan had a couple of nice catches. The first was slant during the 7 on 7 drills, beck was the qb. On the second he was hit hard but held on to the ball during the 11 on 11, and this was without pads.

Beck definitely looked like a rookie, but completed a deep pass at the end of practice during the 11 on 11. The reciever was number 18 or 19 and made one heck of a play, because he was well defended by Jason Allen.

Daunte was not on the bike and was instead on the elipitical machine.

Wow great report man! IT seems Cleo is the starter ATM. Beck has a learning curve that he will complete before the season. He will start no later that week 6. I agree with the offense. Were atleast 3 years away from having our offense in check. Though the same cant be said with the defense. Taylor and Thomas might be done in that time frame.

On another note: Samson Satele #64 has hair much like Troy Palumaula just shorter. Paul Soliai # 96 has long straight hair to the bottoms of his numbers.

Thanks for the report Blitz. Did you happen to notice how Vernon Carey played?

And herein lies the problem with this draft, and why the Phins will not make the playoffs this year. They selected no quality tackles, DE's or CB's and that's where they needed some big help. Also, they took a gamble on Beck when Quinn was the safe bet.

They had their franchise LT there for the taking at 40 (Ugoh), but took Gimp Jr. in the first round and ended up having to use the 40 pick on a QB. I don't care how fast Gimp is, this isn't track and field, and the QB still has to have protection to get Ginn/Chambers/Booker/Hagan the ball.

OL still hasn't been fixed, get ready for another year of the same ol Phins.

I don't understand people sometimes...c'mon, anyone who knows football knows that Beck wasn't drafted to start "this" year. Most rookie QB's are redshirted the first year.

With Culpepper or Green as our starter, look for Beck not to even be the #2 QB this year. He'll be the 3rd string "this" year. Probably become the #2 QB "next" year. And then finally be the #1 QB by the "third" season.

Be realistic. :shakeno:

I don't think Quinn was a safe bet by no means. Their is a small chance that Brady Quinn is the next Tom Brady but their is an even larger chance that he is the next Heath Shuler or the next Ryan Leaf. Ginn was the safe pick maybe we should of traded down but have you seen this guy play he is a play maker. We could have a true deep threat on offense and can you guys even remember the last time we had a touchdown on a punt return that is what he brings to us.

Now lets move on to our defensive back situation. I am a tennessee fan and watched Jason Allen all through college he is better suited to be a cornerback he played much better at that position in college.

dude ugoh really isnt all that great and is as much of a risk if not more.....im actually comfortable with carey and shelton at tackle at the moment with alabi backing up.....satele and mormino should both be factors this year....lets not come to conclusions so quickly
