Here's the latest on how everyone grades out in run and pass blocking.

Jerry- pass +5.4, run -12.1, 5 sacks, 3 hits, 14 hurries

Clabo- pass -3.7, run -7.0, 11 sacks, 10 hits, 28 hurries

Pouncey- pass +5.4, run +1.5, 2 sacks, 2 hits, 8 hurries

McKennie- pass -2.4, run -3.3, 5 sacks, 7 hits, 18 hurries (with Miami)
pass -5.3, run -12.8, 6 sacks, 11 hits, 33 hurries (for the year)

Cog- pass +3.4, run +1.2, 6 sacks, 3 hits, 2 hurries

Martin- pass -3.0, run -5.5, 7 sacks, 7 hits, 15 hurries

Garner- pass -0.5, run -8.9, 2 sacks, 0 hits, 6 hurries

Brenner- pass -1.7, run -1.7, 1 sack, 1 hit, 6 hurries
---------------------------------------------------------------
Clay- pass -0.8, run -9.5, 0 sacks, 1 hit, 3 hurries

Sims- pass -1.7, run -8.7, 2 sacks, 0 hits, 2 hurries

Egnew- pass +0.5, run -3.8, 0 sacks, 0 hits, 2 hurries
----------------------------------------------------------------
Miller- pass 0.0, 1 sack, 1 hit, 3 hurries

Thomas- pass -0.1, 2 sacks, 0 hits, 5 hurries

So, out of the whole bunch we now have 2 guys who can pass block, and 1 of the same who can run block, and yet we look like we are going to make the playoffs.

Great QB play makes an Oline a lot better. We are seeing that from TH last 5 games. Also, please remove Cog and Martin (at the very least Martin) since no one gives a crap about them anymore.

Look at that disparity for Jerry, wow. Isn’t Sims supposed to be the run blocking type TE? ok it is his first year we shall see..The Clabo numbers ugh even though thought he has played better of late..the Bills game is going to really test him again.

Last month I posted on keeping Jerry. His pass blocking is VG, and his run blocking seemed to be improving. That was when his run grade was half as bad. He has regressed, and I'm now looking to replace him as well.

Sims is not ready to play but, who else is there for a 6th blocker? Clabo has been MUCH improved since his one game benching. He and Jerry have given RT some wiggle room on the right side that he did not have before.

It would be interesting to see the numbers for the 1st quarter of the season, the next 4 games, etc. I actually think that the O-line appears to have improved significantly in recent games with Tannehill appearing to have a bit more time to get the ball away. It would be interesting to see if the data confirmed it.

I don't understand these numbers. Brenner is in the negative, but I keep hearing hes been playing well.

Interesting question, and here' the game by game breakdown. It is from PFF, and they do sometimes differ from what others give as sacks. Regardless, it is the same site fr all games. I'm listing the sacks, hits, and pressures in that order.

Cleve- 4- 3- 12
Indy- 6- 1- 6
Atl- 5- 2- 6
NO- 3- 5- 8

Total- 18- 11- 32= 61 total pressures

Balt- 6- 2- 11
Buff- 2- 5- 11
Pats- 4- 6- 6
Cinci- 2- 1- 4

Total- 14- 14- 32= 60 total pressures

TB- 4- 0- 6
SD- 4- 1- 6
Car- 2- 6- 12
Jets- 1- 2- 5

Total- 11- 11- 29= 50 total pressres

Pitt- 2- 1- 13
Pats- 2- 1- 6

Total- 4- 2- 19= 25 total pressures

Sacks are down, as are overall pressures. I give some of that to Tannehill and the competition, and not a lot to the blocking other than Clabo.

For an undrafted rookie coming off the practice squad, Brenner has payed very well. However, in the larger picture, he has been a little below average, and needs a year to develop and get stronger. The grades are for every snap he has played, and not just the ones which are noticed.

OH well, lets just get some better offensive linemen (so da Phinz play makers make plays) and call it a day :-)

Run blocking is becoming a lost art. As a team, Phins have a minus 49.7 for the year, and there are still 7 teams who are worse. There are only 10 teams with a positive grade, and 2 just barely. Philly is almost 3 times better than #2 with a grade of over plus 70.
