Bob Griese on Ryan Tannehill: 'He's the real deal'

I think the biggest news of this article is that Bob was able to say Ryan Tannehill's name correctly the first time.

Oh god, here we go again.

And Ross said the same thing about Henne.

I wish these former players and owners would stop jinxing us with these type statements. LOL.
Please dont compare Ross' opinion with a legends'. Thats like saying that Paul Allen (trail blazers owner) has the same clue as Clyde Drexler. all I know is, for the first time since Marino retired, I am actually excited to see a QB play in a fins uniform. I was never excited about any other QB we have had in the last 12 years. If he can win the starting job I will be buying a jersey for the first time since 2003 (ricky williams). My jersey collection needs it bad, I have no current players jerseys right now. I take the earlier statement back, i bought a Ronnie jersey back in 07 about. Also, Henne never looked the part to me, he always looked like a deer in the headlights to me. Tannehill looks smooth and poised.

Just because someone has all the tools to be great in the college game does not guarantee success in the NFL.
Luck looks great and so does RG3 but how they will turn out long term is still in question. Injuries , poor coaching , no surrounding cast and many other intangables can come into play.
Ryan may indeed have the best career of all three QB's. Only time will tell.

Perfectly said. This is one of the main reasons Rodgers turned out as good as he did - coaching. He was retooled completely and given a tremendous supporting cast and allowed to develop into a stud.

I am excited about Tannehill too. Hopefully he will light it up against the Buc's on friday!

Only things that are questionable for Luck are his OL and his running game. If his receiving options stay healthy, he's got a good group.

His starting OL is projected to be this...

LT-Anthony Costonzo
LG-Jeff Linkenbach
C-Samson Satele
RG-Mike McGlynn
RT-Winston Justice

That could get ugly especially in Bruce Arains's offense

Luck better get some WR help pretty quick. Once Wayne is gone they are in some serious ****. They have nobody behind him except the soon to be vegetable Austin Collie and a bunch of 4th stringers. I like their TE options, and you can certainly improve as a QB with a strong TE, but for his overall career they are going to need to bring in SEVERAL more WRs to replace Wayne and form a solid corps of receivers.

I cant believe Anthony Costanzo is still starting. Phew. He was not very good last year, but that may be due to a piss poor QB back there. If he struggles with Luck back there he has ZERO hope.

thats got a lot of go belly up potential from an oline aspect but we are talking about the best qb prospect in a long long long time...i think he'll overcome it...

Colts problem is that there defense is awful...and there two best players Freeney and Mathis will be playing new positions. Bethea is the only player in the secondary that is a legitimate starter IMO. Luck will take his bumps...but he will get to put up big numbers because they will be playing in shootouts

I hear you, I remember watching Griese play against the Raiders in 1974 in that gut wrenching playoff game when I was a little kid and crying afterward. Just try to separate the comments of Ross and Griese, different animals and far different relevance. Huizenga thought that AJ Feeley would be the next Marino- hindsite is 20/20, but Huizenga admittedly didn't know jack about football and I doubt that Ross does either. Griese- that's a different story.
I cried after that 1974 Raiders loss as well. The only time I've ever cried at the result of a football game. Man that one was so devastating and, worse yet, really ended the Dolphins dynasty. As to Griese, I would think he's a good judge of quarterback talent so that is promising to hear. The sky is the limit for Tannehill in this offense and with this coaching staff.

true, I was just focusing on Luck though not the team. Biggest mistake they made was waiting until round 5 to get a player for their conversion to the 3-4. Nothing against getting Colby Fleener, Dwyane Allen, and TY Hilton; all are decent prospects... but they really needed to address that defense.

I'm glad Griese likes Robert Tannehill.
