ESPN and local Louisville TV station reporting that Petrino will be announced as the new Atlanta Falcons head coach tomorrow.

Now we (U of L) will have to find a new coach. I'll lay odds that Jurich (Louisville AD) will promote Bobby's brother, Paul, to head coach. He's just as gifted an offensive mind as his brother. That way Louisville will keep the same systems and some of the same assistant coaches.

Paul will give them the best chance to retain underclassmen and incoming recruits too.

They're also mentioning Tulsa's coach. I bet Jurich has even put in a call to Nashville: for Norm Chow.

This situation could get VERY intresting over the next few days...

I knew this was going to happen eventually, but I thought just not until after next season. He still has one son in high school here, Brohm probably would have come back and U of L would challenge for a national championship next year. I guess money talks...

Its good for West Virigina. They are now the Big East favorite for next year.

So he's going to remove his son in his last year of high school to move to some trashy high school in Atlanta? wow

No, his family will probably stay up here for 1 more year and then move to Atlanta. His other son is going to be a senior next year at Louisville Trinity, which is the best high school football program in the state of Kentucky. They won the state title this year with his other son, Nick, at QB.

I cant be that far of a drive from the two places anways...what 4 hours at the most?

They could lose Simms now, the biggest reason he declared to Louie was Petrino!

Don Bosco quarterback Matt Simms has withdrawn his oral commitment to Louisville just hours after head coach Bobby Petrino officially left the school for the NFL.

“I’m not going to Louisville,†said Simms, the son of former Giants quarterback Phil and brother of current Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Chris. “As far as my recruiting goes, I’m pretty much back to square one.â€Â

Rutgers bound perhaps?

Actually he was recruited by Jeff Brohm, Brian's brother. Keep an eye on the Kragthorpe hiring, I think Simms will change his mind.
