In the nation's capital on his first road trip of 2005, Barry Bonds questioned why Congress, the media and fans continue to talk about steroids.

"I think we have other issues in this country to worry about that are a lot more serious. I think you guys should direct your efforts into taking care of that," the San Francisco Giants slugger said Tuesday before facing the Washington Nationals. "Talk about the athletes that are helping Katrina. Ask yourselves how much money y'all personally donated and have helped."

I didn't see the part of the article where he said how much money he donated to help the people affected by Katrina? Oh wait I doubt he gave them a nickle... Just shut your fat mouth up and use your big head. First class @$$ bag!

I hate Barry Bonds, but Congress shouldn't have anything to do with sports. They do have better things to do.

I hate Barry Bonds with a passion but one thing I will always say about him, he stick up for himself. He never lets the media get the best of him which is something I respect. Bonds is Bonds, he's not going to change for anyone and I respect that. I may not like him but I respect him!

i love how bonds goes about his business, its great.

I'm pathetic or Barry Bonds?

If you think I'm pathetic that's pretty funny. These athletes make more money in one year that most people won't make in their lifetime. George Steinbrenner donated a million dollars of his own money to help those people. Deion Sanders have come out and said that every athlete should donate at least 1000 dollars of their own. I'd bet that Bonds didn't give anything to those people and the best example of him is back in December of 2004 him and Arod had a special dinner where people could pay 1500 bucks to get to talk to them one on one for 5 minutes. The money ARod made went to the Boys and Girls Club and the money Bonds made went into his pocket. As for publicity Bonds could use some good publicity instead of talking about how all the steriod crap he shoots off with. I'd rather hear about an athlete like Bernie Williams spending time with some sick kid in a hospital bed or the Reds helping out a small boy who's grandpa dropped dead in front of him during the game.

Exactly. I hate Bonds most of the time but some of the things he says do make sense.

Your ripping the guy on what he MIGHT NOT have done? :shakeno: :shakeno:

You have no idea if or how much he gave to any Katrina fund. To rip him for that is insane!!

Well did he come out with a statement about it? The article states that he bashed the government over it. I'm sure if he did donate something it would come out. After all like I said he could use the good press over it. I admit I am however assuming he didn't donate anything to it based on his past (i.e. the example I gave with the dinner with Arod). If it comes out that he did donate I'll be the first one to give him props for it. Mark my word.

Again if you read what I first posted I said that I doubt he donated anything which is my opinion. However he proves me wrong after all donating is tax deductable.

I think he is ripping him b/c as usual a Bonds PC turns into a lecture to the media to deflect away from Barry's steroid use.

Thank you! That's what I meant and also the find that he rips congress for the hurricane yet he didn't mention if he donated. You'd think he would if he did.

I don't care what times we live in, or what the masses that have had their brains reduced to mush by reality TV say about it - right is still right, and wrong is still wrong.

I sincerely hope that MLB will not allow Bonds, this sack of chemicals and piss-poor attitude, to be listed ahead of Babe Ruth when he inevitably passes Ruth in total number of home runs; not without an asterisk or qualifying comment. And God forbid he should pass the great Hank Aaron for the overall title, that would be a mockery of competitive sports.

It's shameful that dopers like Bonds, McGuire and Sosa are listed in the record books ahead of guys like Mantle, Maris, and Ruth - guys who didn't need or use chemical enhancement to achieve.

It's even more of a shame that men of conscience sit back without acting to ensure that this doesn't happen.

Mcguire and Sosa should have their single-season HR numbers reduced to a footnote because of their steroid use; Bonds should be drummed out of baseball before he further damages MLB.

If he donates and doesn't say anything or "Brag" about it......you accuse him of not donating.

If he donates and tells people........then people like you say he only donated because he wants positive press.

No matter what, he can't win with some people (YOU)

LOL I'm shocked you're defending him when he's not even on the Yankees.

Seriously get a grip why on earth would I say he donates just to get in the positive light when he's doing something good for people? I hate ARod with a passion but I respect him because he donates a lot of money to childrens and other worth while causes. Same with George Steinberner. Joe Torre has his own foundation to help beaten women and children and he donates a lot of money for the Jimmy Fund. I love it when people do good things for the less fortunite. In my opinion everyone should help out it's for a good cause. It has NOTHING to do with getting postive press.

I don't think you should make assumptions about me by the way and what I would think about a person. You don't know me well enough so those comments are pretty idiotic if you ask me.
