I am a long time supporter of finheaven and I hate to start my first post with so much controversy, but.... reading between the lines on a couple fronts tells me that:
1. The FO will be definitely looking to stockpile more draft picks this year.

2. I'm starting to get the feeling that even with the promise that Tedd Ginn exhibited last season, his skill set has started to plateau and do we here in fin nation really feel like he is a number 1 receiver? (and lets admit it, besides RB, who else is more attractive trade bait?) :d-day:

3. Tony Sparano has stated that he is definitely committed to expanding our wildcat formation.:woot:

4. Percy Harvin brings an interesting skill set to the table and would be totally dynamic in our wildcat package.:hi5:

5. This next one is a thread all by itself: The recent rumblings of Anquan Boldin expressing interest in the playing for the fins.:chuckle:

All of these points summarized:
*Tedd Ginn= draft picks,
*Percy Harvin= unparalled expansion in the wildcat,
*Acquisition of Boldin via trade= True 1 reciever and a killer combonation to add to our hungry and determined recieving corps.
.....you heard it here first people, I strongly feel we will trade Ted Ginn, acquire Percy Harvin and Anquan Boldin (or maybe all of this was a dream)

I like hearing that Coach Sparano is dedicated to expanding on the wildcat, but I think as far as Ginn goes, he has a lot more potential if he has a #1 WR to take the coverage off him a little and let his horses gallop. If we can somehow hold on to Ginn and pick up a player like Boldin, I think Ginn would develop into a deadly threat downfield. Only way I saw we release Ginn is if we are guaranteed a player to fill his spot. I don't think we need to go through the process of developing a rookie WR for a starting position again.

Not going to happen. Ted Ginn Jr. is a Miami Dolphin and will be all season long. Why is it that people always feel the need to trade away players, esp. starters? Why don't we just ADD players?

There are reports Harvin failed a drug test and why would you trade Ginn for a player who is unproven and very similiar to Ginn.

Why do we as fans tend to judge players entirely way to fast. Ted Ginn is a speedy WR who stretches the field vertically. The threat wasn't there with Cleo Lemon/John Beck and it's not there with Chad Pennington. Wait till Henne gets in there and if Ginn still isn't where we think he should be, then bring up crazy talk like this.

MAY THE FOOTBALL GODs HEAR YOU!! THIS WILL BE THE BEST THING THE PHINS CAN DO, GET RID OF GINN....IMO! GO PHINS

I like hearing that Coach Sparano is dedicated to expanding on the wildcat, but I think as far as Ginn goes, he has a lot more potential if he has a #1 WR to take the coverage off him a little and let his horses gallop. I agree with you 100%, Ginn needs a legit #1. But what i dont agree with is, if you get picked someone #9 overall you shouldnt need a #1 YOU SHOULD BE #1!! I know he was taken tooooo early in the draft, but @ this point lets get a legit #1, and we can develop Bess and Camarillo who cost us A LOT less then Ginn and seem to have just as much potential. We can probably get a 3rd or maybe a low 2nd for Ginn if we are lucky a team sees more in him then there really is. Im sure we can convince dumb Cam to trade for him......

Oh man. Where to start with this pile?

Ginn and Bess have just as much potential as Ted Ginn? Do you honestly, truthfully believe that? If so, do you actually watch the games or do you just check the reception stats because that is just so far from the mark. Cam and Bess have the potential to be really good players but Ginn has the potential to be elite. Not seeing he will be but it was you that brought of the potential word.

And just this whole thread... I don't get it. It's crazy. You talk of stockpiling picks and then just mention at the end that we should acquire Boldin. What with? If we're stockpiling picks, we're not about to send two or three to anyone are we?

Then there's the whole trading Ginn and drafting Harvin thing. Apparantly, according to two peoples' analysis, Harvin is fundamentally a better player than Ginn and we should view swapping them as an upgrade. This is crazy. Harvin is a rookie. He's never played pro before. And he was a Gator wide receiver! Percy Harvin will not be more productive than Ginn in 2009. Fact. Harvin will probably only take a couple of kick returns before getting injured anyway but even if he's healthy, he won't out-produce Ginn. No way. So why would we put ourselves back two years with a receiver?

By all means, get us deeper with the wildcat. So trade John Beck for a 7th, or just a plate of chilli cheese nachos for all I care, and spend a mid-rounder on White. People seem to forget this team still has holes. Big holes. We are in no position to spend big money and valuable picks on quirky athletes for specific, specialist formations. The first three picks we make need to be solid hole fillers or upgrades, not flashy college highlight fillers.

All of these points summarized:
*Tedd Ginn= on the brink of achieving,
*Percy Harvin= unproven, injury prone risk,
*Acquisition of Boldin via trade= virtually impossible unless we get Ron Graves drunk enough to sign a trade of Beck for Boldin straight up.

I can assure you, this is most definitely and ONLY all a dream.

Ted Ginn Jr = Harvin Only Harvin is unproven and injury prone. Keep Ginn

There are so many things wrong with this whole idea.....
First of all Ginn hasn't come close to reaching his "Plateau" 3rd year is when WR's usually hit their stride, Ginn has played in 2 differen't systems in 2 years with 3 different QB's and Ginn is probably one of the fastest WR's in the game but hasn't even been used as a deep threat yet because we haven't had a QB that could get him the ball deep. Now as for Percy Harvin..... The guy is injury prone, very raw, and like someone else said just failed a drug test. Even if Harvin is the real deal your idea still makes little sense to trade Ginn for draft picks then draft Harvin because there's no guarantee Harvin will be there when we pick. Not to mention the fact that you trade Ginn you get more picks sure but you also create a Huge hole at a position we already wanted to improve. IF this team adds another WR this offseason it will be to play WITH Ginn not in place of him.

You guys are giving Gators fans a bad name.

Camarillo's base salary for 2009 $1.475 million
Ginn's base salary for 2009 $677,917

C'mon now...you know Ginn has played with 5 different QBs in two years. Green, Lemon, Beck, Pennington and Henne.

Just to repeat what others have said to make sure you understand....

Trade a player that has experience in the NFL for what would probably be a 3rd round pick to draft an injury prone, unproven player with our first round pick that we could use the pick to fill a hole in a position of need (CB/OLB). I don't think so!

Well I just pinched you and you can wake up now, first of all the wildcat worked just fine last season, why trade a productive player who is on the verge of being something special, why not trade the 25th pick for more draft choices? and keep Teddy Ginn.
