Boston Sits With Sore Knee

Guys, this is the reason I suggest Boston is going to be a role player and that he won't sniff 1000 yards again. His knees are screwed up. He is going to miss practice time and even probably games as a result.

We gave up a guy in a situation like this in Pat Surtain, and we now have one on offense.

I would assume better to have one on Offense than Defense. There aren't that many "role players" that play defense in football, but on offense, Boston would be a very valuable role player especially in the Red Zone area or big 3rd downs.

That is absolutely my hope for Boston. I think people have gotten pissed off at the suggestion I have made that Boston is a role player, but I don't really understand why that is the case. If he can make 5 really gamebreaking plays (which I think he can) while grabbing the team around 600 yards, I'll be very pleased with Boston.

You got that right!

Boston is one of those guys who has talent but will perpetually be injured or hurt to the extent that he wont make much of an impact in any regular season games. Its a case of "we really, really hope that he can recapure past glory level". Dont get me wrong here. I do hope that he is a big impact guy. I just dont believe that he will be. That bum knee will hound him and will not let him play at a servicable level.

...Well atleast you guy's are showing your "true" color's...:shakeno: ..how many of you "doubter's" and "hater's"..were a little bit pleased to see he sat out ONE PRACTICE because of a sore knee?? How many couldnt wait to come on here with your "I told you so" remarks?? How many were embaressed and ashamed of there negative comments on Boston from before he was resigned until he was promoted to #3???

Way to make something out of nothing just to save face on the stupid comments many made prior to this....he's sitting out ONE practice?? No one's saying stuff about Seau who hasnt practiced hardly at all?? Now IF it's reported he may miss a week or a game because of this then start your ridiculous post's....but for one practice??? Get a life!! Stop being too critical of one guy for such a petty thing..it's a precautionary decision and a smart one....take it for what it IS and not for what you HOPE it is.:shakeno:

Remember last year when Boston told Wanny he had a sore knee? Wanny played him against the Texans in a scrimmage anyway. Anyone care to remember what happened next?

I am so glad Wanny is gone. Fickin' Idiot!

Isn't the situation just a bit different. Last year he complained of soreness to a knee that had never been injured before. This year he has soreness in a knee that was recently operated on.

Let me ask you, how many players would be at practice today if every player with soreness sat out?

Oh I HOPE that he is a Pro Bowl receiver and wins the NFL MVP award on the way to leading the Dolphins to the Super Bowl and making everyone say "T.O. Who??"
But I've seen too many teams get disapointed when they take a chance on a guy with so much "potential" but who are also injured alot.
And I still dont think he will ever play in a single regular season game for the Dolphins.

I have taken the realist position on Boston since Nick made the decision to bring him here. This is just another little data point that bears out how ridiculous it is to think Boston is going to round into his 1600 yard season form of the past. I WILL NOT stop sharing my views because you go into a tizzy from reading the "glass at 50% capacity" view of a player you're clearly obsessed with.

If Wanny was still here, Boston would probably be heading to IR. I am glad that Saban is taking it easy with him and making sure he is healthy each day.

SO TRUE....BOSTON HAS TALENT...HE WILL BE NUMBER #3 WR...SABAN ISN'T GOING TO WEAR HIM OUT.....SMART TO REST HIM WHEN NEEDED

Clearly you're a big Boston. And I've been pulling for him to start opposite Chambers. But you need to remember, the man IS recovering from an injury. I was very excited to see him perform well in the preseason games, but I also noticed that he doesn't run nearly as smoothly as in his AZ days. I'm hoping that eventually, he can regain his old form, but realisticly he may or he may not. It would be foolish to expect him to a number one receiver at this point and unfair to place that burden on him. But if we limit his practice reps, which has been happening even before he got the day off, we can hopefully keep him healthy and getting stronger as the season moves along. I expect him to contribute early and play more and more of a role as the season goes on. Noone is hoping for him to fail, it's just being realistic with expectations and being worried when he suffers a setback, even a very minor one.

Also, it shouldn't have suprised anyone that Boston moved to #3. DT can't hold his jock. Neither could Booker if Boston can get back to peak form. I think we just need to be patient with him and it seems like Saban is doing exactly that. Smart move!
