Both Teams Away

I was just reading the thread about the possibility of the Dolphins playing a home game in Mexico as the Cards are doing this week. Nobody is really thrilled about the idea of giving up a home game. My question is, why couldn't the NFL schedule it so that it counted as anaway game for both teams? That way each team would still have their 8 home games to generate revenue and fan support. I'm not enough of a mathametician to know how that would affect the scheduling, but it seems like it would make sense to me.

I would be PEEVED if a Miami home game was held in Mexico.. Maybe the Bahamas, but not Mexico.. At least Dolfans could take a cruiseship over to the Bahamas..

And it would be logistically impossible to make it an away game for both teams.. Unless my rudimentary math is incorrect.

I'm still not clear of the whole reason for this. Pre-season is one thing, but regular season. I would not be happy to lose a home game to another Country. If they have the NFL Europe, they should have the NFL Mexico...

I think the Giants deserve to lose a home game... Imagine if it was the Jets who got an extra home game, against a dome team no less.

Skape is right... it's mathematically impossible to have the game be an away game for both teams. It requires that somewhere else there must be a game that is home for both teams (New York, anyone?)

Yeah, thinking through it I can see how the math would not work out to make it an away game for both teams. Sorry for starting a Homer Simpson IQ level thread.

I'd be furious if we got stuck with a home game in Mexico while other division teams didn't.

Yes, it can't be considered an AWAY game for both teams if you do the math, unless teams dont have 8 home and 8 away games. I dont mind a pre-season game being held elsewhere but not a regular season game...I am sure the players and coaches hate it too. Hope none of the players get Montezuma's Revenge in Mexico City.
