This is the absolute worst case scenario, as we need to take care of business this weekend and hope for some luck (Jags over Jets, Falcons over Ravens, Bengals over Pats) to cement our playoff spot before week 18. However, if the Dolphins, Pats and Jets all tie at 9-8 after week 18, the dolphins would advance, so long as they beat the jets and the bills beat the pats. The dolphins and pats would finish with 3-3 divisional records and the jets would finish with a 2-4 record. the dolphins would then beat the pats on the conference tiebreaker (7 wins compared to 6)

I kinda think the Pats lose out, even if Buffalo doesn’t play their starters in week 18 (like they did to us with Matt Barkley). However, Buffalo will likely try as home field will be up for grabs.

Like you said, the Jets game is the biggest game. But we can help ourselves and get a few extra out winning this week and next week.

Ideally we win these next 2 weeks and the Jets drop 1 to either the Jags or Seahawks. This would clinch our spot! The Jets and the Pats are the competition now more than ever folks. It's nice knowing we have the tiebreaker over Pittsburgh and cleveland if one of them were to win out too

Unfortunately, I don't see us overtaking the chargers. They're a game ahead, own the tiebreaker, and face the colts, rams and broncos to finish the season. Can we overtake the Ravens? We own the tiebreaker and only need to make up one game. They finish home against atlanta and pittsburgh and at cincy

Don't need the ravens to lose. Just jets losing to jags or hawks following week and miami beating packers and patriots and miami is in. Week 18 win not needed

I don't get the sense the Bills would rest their starters. They'll have the bye to do that. They'll want to stay as honed as they can be. Probably putting in backups if they have the game iced which will be tough against BB's D this year.

The Bills didn’t play Matt Barkley until they had already demolished us.

miami will make playoff.. k.c vs dolphins
Can we get you a fully functioning keyboard for Xmas? We can fire up a gofundme page just for you.

Dolphins will make it to the 5th seed in my view. So, we'll probably have game one at either Jax or Ten. We'll see.

Would be just a shame to have to rely on luck after starting 8-3…

Sorry, but I dont want to limp in to the playoffs as the last seed and play the Chiefs or Bills in round 1. I want to win out, lock up the 5th seed and play whatever team wins the AFC South....as that is our best chance to advance to the next round.

I had a real crappy and uninspiring high school football coach that said "if we can get 3 yards on every play, we're golden". That team sucked and that coach was replaced. The next year, our new coach said "every play is designed to score and if we don't score on every play, we have failed". We went to the playoffs that year and we were one game from the state championship.

I've been wanting to score on every play since.

The 5th seed would be our best path in the playoffs. The new season starts this Sunday. We need to win this weekend and get the "monkey off our back" losing streak. We need our mojo back thumping the Jets and Patriots entering the playoffs on a hot streak. Once in the playoffs not many teams would want to play us.

Was his name Mike McDaniel?

I have a better idea. We control our own destiny. We win all three and get in. Never wait for another team to lose to get in the playoffs. No team deserves to make playoffs if they have to count in another team to help them.

Just my humble 2 cents

Agree. Miami can get in with no help. However, GETTING help isn't a bad thing. Control their destiny, but no harm done waiting for help
