Here is the bottom line on the Brees Culpepper front:

1) Drew Brees will be a Dolphin. Why else would he take a physical for the team and not only take one test but take multiple test to prove how healthy he is? My best guess is Saban told him if he passes they will match NO offer. Brees wants to be in Miami or he wouldn't go through all of this, would you?

2) For those who worry about Culpepper being traded before the Dolphins are done with the Brees negotiations, don't worry. If you are Minnesota why trade him a day earlier when the Dolphins can create a bidding war and drive up the price for Culpepper? The only way Minnesota makes a deal if someone comes to table with a offer they have been expecting (2nd round) and I just don't see that happening. Really, Miami holds the cards with this one and as more time passes it is clearly obvious this is the case.

I really think on Tuesday Brees will be in a Dolphins jersey. He is simply proving to the Dolpins organization that he is healthy and waiting for them to come close or to match what NO is offering. We will know by tomorrow.

He went through several physicals with the Saints also, that means nothing. He's an injured QB who is getting huge offers, of course he is getting checked out.

torn labrum vs torn knee

I'd rather go w/ the torn knee, hence Culpepper. Coming back from a torn labrum and rotator cuff injury as well, will be tough, especially by the beginning of next season. but, M. Vick played w/ a torn labrum and he still has a cannon. either way - i'm scared b/c these are pretty bad injuries to both players.

Both injuries are tough and they both come with risk, but after how many years without a decent QB, I think I would take those risk.

Brees wants to be here and thats why he took a whole day's worth of test.

The Saints' new coach has a philosophy of being overly secretive about personnel issues. he learned this from Parcells. He doesn't let too much info leak out. We signed LB Scott Fujita today, and the media didn't even know negotiations had begun. All they knew was that he was in town for a visit.

Personally, I think he really wants to sign with you guys. It's definately an attractive place to play. But will his ego get in the way? If someone tells you you aren't worth as much as another guy says you are, ego becomes a factor.

Do you think Culpepper will come cheap? He already makes more Brees. I would wait until Minny cuts Culpepper before giving up any picks.

Maybe start Gus and draft a rook and hope he turns into a very good QB.

nola

I appreciate the honesty and may the best team win. I really think Brees would help out NO but I truly think you guys would be better with Leinert in the long run.
