Bowden Heads Class Of 20 To Be Enshrined

Bobby Bowden believes the greatest accomplishment in his Hall of Fame career is he's never been fired.

"I know that sounds odd, but you look around every day at coaches who have been fired _ coaches who last two years, coaches who last four years," he said. "I ain't never been fired. But I've nearly been fired."

The 77-year-old Florida State coach also has been successful enough that the National Football Foundation changed its rules so he could be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame while he's still coaching. Instead of requiring a coach be retired, the NFF made any active coach more than 75 eligible for induction.

If anyone can catch the ESPN profile of him I highly recommend it. In one part it split screens him and Bear Bryant and I literally got chills.

He really did great things at FSU. My only issue with him and actually this comes from some of my FSU buddies... he has not done any real coaching for over a decade. He is really just a figure head and a recruiter now. BY NO means am I trying to take away from what he has done. I am surprised they have not moved him to a different position with the team. But then again, I guess this way works!?
