i know this is a topic that gets bounced around a lot, but i miss the REAL bowl names. not these lame ones we have now like the Meineke Car Car Bowl and the MPC Computers bowl, and the Insight Bowl.

give me back the days of the Copper Bowl, the Citrus/Tangerine Bowl, the Aloha bowl.

i know this is big money for sponsors and all that, but you can still have a sponsor and maintain your integrity. such as the Tositos Fiesta Bowl or the FedEx Orange Bowl, no one ever uses the sponsors name when referring to the bowl, but we all know who the sponsor is.

i could also get into stadium names, but thats another topic.

I'm sure the schools that play in the game receive big $$$ from the companies that sponsor the games. Same thing with stadium names...they pay the organization a great deal of money for naming rights. It is no different than the players wearing the Nike swoosh, Reebok, or Addidas on their uniforms. Money talks. No such thing as "amateurs" in college ball anymore...everyone gets paid.

I only really watch the BCS bowl games, unless there's some good teams in the horribly named bowls.

Motor City Bowl. Ohio vs Middle Tennesse State? Um, yeah. Busy that day.

I love the lesser bowls. Because the point spreads are always out of line and its an easy way to make money.

When you give teams and coaches 3-4 weeks to prepare for 1 game, it's easier to bet those games.

Alamo Bowl last year with Nebraska and Michigan was classic. Great game!! AWESOME FINISH!

Motor City Bowl always seems to be an offensive explosion year after year. Non-stop points. No matter who plays in it.

Holiday Bowl is always fun.

And for some odd reason I am hooked on the SUN BOWL. I think because of the time they play that game, I always seem home. I probably haven't missed a SUN BOWL in like 10 years. I love that game!!

The lesser bowls rule.

I went to Toledo vs Cincy a few years back, where Chester Taylor tore up in his final game.

Then last year I was supporting my school Akron there. Too bad we couldn't pull off the comeback. My avatar was actually taken at the game, when we got Zippy to crowd surf.

PS: I'm still confused as to why Nebraska didn't get a penalty at the end of that game, for having ineligble players on the field while the game was still going.

I love the Sun Bowl too! For some reason that desert setting way out there in El Paso just lures me in.
