IMO Matt Leinart would have gone number one to the niners last year had he come out.

If not Miami would have taken him at the 2 spot.

Since he decided to stay for an extra year and even though his numbers are better his draft position may be outside the top five.

Houston, Green Bay, Tennessee, NYJ, Arizona, New Orleans, etc. Either have QBs or have a lot of needs that could be addressed through the draft. Add Phillip Rivers to the mix and teams drafting high up may not be inclined to go QB.

Ferguson, Hawk, J. Williams, Ngata, Wright, Bush, D. Williams, etc.

All of those guys are premier players that can contribute right away. So imagine if Leinart slipped to lets say 6 or 7th overall. That would be big money lost.

So, Brady Quinn should strike while the iron is hot. He would definately go top ten if not top five overall. And even though he will light it up next year at ND and possilby win the Heisman there is too much at risk and he should enter the draft and hold up the AQUA #1 on stage while he shakes Tagliabues hand.

I don't think Leinart will fall out of the top 3. I still think he'll go 1st overall and Houston is gonna drop down a couple spots and get a few extra picks.

Only Bush and possibly Ferguson would go ahead of Lienart. He probably cost himself several million dollars just dropping from #1 over to 3rd, but either way he'll be set for life.

True, but Quinn still has more to prove at the college level. Matt didn't and its a different situation.

No way. Unless he runs a 7.4 forty or his arm falls off.

He'd never make it past AZ or NO, should they be so lucky.

Won't happen. Even if he slips to 3, the signing bonus goes up about 7-10% from the last year. He's not going to lose that much.

Sounds nice but won't happen. He loves Weis, ND and wants to win a NC. He could be the #1 overall next year. There's many more reasons for him to stay than Leinart had this year.

You contradict yourself in your own post. You say he should strike while the iron is hot, but you just said teams wont be drafting a QB high up. If he enters the draft this year, not only will he have to compete with Lienart, but also wont be taken by teams that at this moment dont need a QB.

In his mind, he can take another year of easy classes, like Leinart, have a breakout senior season, and go first overal next year, rather then go top ten this year.

Quinn SHOULD come out but he probably won't.

You can never get pack the lost salary for the year you would have played professionally. Plus more importantly, you never know how the other guys in your class will develop.

If Young stays at school that leaves Arizona, Miami, Baltimore, Detroit, Cleveland, New Orleans, and possibly the Jets all needing a QB so if Quinn were to come out he should go top 10. I guess I just want him to come out so Miami has a better shot at a franchise QB.

Leinart will likely go 1 or 2 overall. So many teams will be looking to trade up to get him, especially if Quinn and Young stay in school.

Leinart goes 1 or 2 as said by previous posters. He will be traded up for or selected. If someone wants another player they can have a team that wants Leinart below them select that player, make them trade that player plus picks for Leinart. No way does he get out of the top 3, Id take bets on that.

I also thought Leinart would be the top pick, but as I recall from an ESPN the Mag article, Carroll called Miami/SF/Cleveland, and all 3 said they were not interested in him, which is hard to believe, but I think that is the main reason he stayed in school.

Whoa seriously? If all 3 of those teams were ready to pass on him last year, how is he expecting ot be a top pick now?

SF would rather have Alex Smith than Leinart? WTF?
