Finally happens after 7 years. You can finally turn those thumbs this way.![]()
I agree with your assessment overall. I am a much bigger fan of Moore's than Quinn's but in fairness this is a new system and it's hard for me to imagine Moore being mobile enough to do what we've been hearing about in practice.
I am hopeful that if the staff has decided Devlin isn't the answer that they have just changed. The easiest thing to have done was to just stand pat (no pun intended).
I am also hopeful that we can find someone better than Quinn or Lobato. Quinn just doesn't seem that good to me. Maybe Lazor can do something with him and because they let go of Devlin I have confidence they will let go of Quinn if they have better options.
Matt Moore is not a running or these days even what you'd call an athletic QB, but he's far from immobile. If the play calls for him to bootleg he wouldn't have any problem doing so, at least no less of an issue than Brady Quinn.

But you're comparing 1st round apples to 2nd round oranges. The fact remains that Brady Quinn aside from being a collosal bust in his own right is also one compared to Ted Ginn who's still going strong and providing receiving and return utility to his teams - a far cry from being a cattle call away from.
involuntary retirement.

Why pay almost 6m for a guy you more than likely won't need because the starter is durable and doesn't miss games?Matt Moore had more positives in 6 games in 2011 than Quinn has had his entire career, despite being a first round pick who was given starting time to be "the guy". Quinn is there to push Moore, who may not be healthy, but as far as real competition, it would be idiotic for Moore to lose out.
Not comparing apples to oranges. Quinn was the 23 rd pick in draft John Beck was the 40th pick in draft.
Ginn was a bust of epic proportions also as the number nine pick just not as much as either of these guys.
We chose two busts instead of one , in fact that draft was full of high busts that we took.
Also going strong is not exactly true. He finally had a productive year after three straight seasons of doing nothing as a receiver for SF.
He basically had as many tds last year receiving as he has in his entire NFL career before hand. Now of course the one good season is more than Brady Quinn ever had but doesn't change that Ginn was a huge bust as the number nine pick in the draft.

good ol Brady Quinn. Welcome to Miami buddy. I remember being one of those Dolphin fans irked that we didnt draft him the 1st round haha
Hey, at least you own it. Nothing wrong with that, unlike those passive aggressively bashing you for it.
To be fair, I'd much rather draft a bust QB than a bust WR in the first. At least the latter shows that your team has their priorities straight.
In principle, you're correct, but in pracice, when our then QB coach Terry Shea, known for developing college QBs including Steve Garcia spent quality time in Phoenix tutoring Quinn pre-draft - with the outcome that the Fins, actually needing a QB, passed on him, well then connect the dots (aka: "you don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows" <Dylan).
If you trust your QB coach, one with credentials developing future pro QBs, who's spent a bunch of time tutoring Quinn, and he obviously says: "pass on him," well then prudently you do, doncha? :idk:
And of course it turned out he was spot on.
