The draft is sometimes finding gems/talented players and not guided by hype or stats.

For example there are lot of players that play horrible under certain coaches,
they just cant prove themselves, and thats when you hit a jackpot player like tom brady in the 6th round.

jay cutler horrible stats but the talents is there, now brady quinn i remember before charlie came to ND i remember all quinn did was throw picks and wasnt a good qb at all , he made horrible throws and looked scared or pressured trying to hard, he just looked super horrible.

Freshman year: 332 ATT 157 COMPLETIONS 47.3 PASSING PERCENT
1831 YARDS 5.5 AVERAGE 9 TD 15 INT

SOPHMORE: 353 ATT 191 COMPLETIONS 54.1 PERCENT 2586 YARDS
7.3 AVERAGE 17 TD 10 INT

Now Charlie arrives:
JUNIOR: 450 ATT 292 COMPLETIONS 64.9 PERCENT 3919 YARDS
8.7 YARDS 32 TD 7 INT

Now i know this guy is a great player and hes a tremendous leader and hes super poised and mature when talking.
Hes the guy that would get a locker room pumped up, cause people know hes a good guy and a great competitor.
And know this guy can play qb.

Hey i love calvin johnson but ill take quinn over calvin any day.
Also if our qb's dont work out and brady's there at draft we get him.
I would like us to pick in the top 3 if we dont make the playoffs because quinn is a Top 5 pick.

You didnt watch enough ND football then. He never looked "super horrible" you could always see the potential. Not to mention how good are freshman qbs supposed to be on bad teams? I agree with you about Quinn, but I think you are overstating his early struggles

I think Quinn has looked a little off to start this year. When he got pressured, he made some bad throws. But that is understandable. Every QB will do that. But even when he wasn't getting pressure, he was getting a little happy feat and was not being accurate. He has since settled down and is doing fine. He still looks like a pretty good pick in the draft.

i dont think it is so simple as to say yes we will simply draft in the top 3 if we miss out on the playoffs as it would be extremely difficult depending on our record of course to trade down into the top 3. i would much rather us have a good season and make the playoffs im sick of no playoffs and pinning hopes on the draft to see who we can get

Give me HENNE from MICHIGAN ....

I'm not looking for a 'superstar' .... I just want a guy that plays well, makes good decisions ...

Just a solid steady performer in the mold of BRADY ... so I'd vote for another MICHIGAN man ...

Troy Edwards from Stanford could be had much later in the draft and could take Joey's place as a back up. I think this guy is going to be good.

Henne had better numbers than Quinn over his first two years. He is looking pretty good too.

IMO Brady Quinn is solid but very overrated.

Calvin Johnson and Adrian Peterson are the best players in this draft hands down and bar none

Brady Quinn this year has not done good against good defense. He looks great when they play average defense. His junior season IMO looks better then this year.
