KRUMRIE BEATS UP BRANCH
Word trickling out of the Michigan Pro Day is that Chiefs defensive line coach Tim Krumrie roughed up defensive tackle Alan Branch in one of Krumrie's one-on-one slap fights.
Per a league source, Branch looked winded before he even got to the patented Krumrie spanking machine. At one point during his session with Krumrie, Branch appeared to be ready to quit.
Gil Brandt of NFL.com corroborates this in his Pro Day updates: "Tim Krumrie worked Branch hard during the position drills, and the scouts there said Branch did not look like he was in very good shape."
Krumrie, better known to most fans as the guy who got Theismanned during Super Bowl XXIII, is a legend in league circles for the no-pads hand-fighting test, to which he subjects many of the linemen he is scouting.
"It's Gladiator stuff," said one league source.
For Branch, who is projected by many as a top-ten pick, the end result apparently was thumbs down.

i dont think the dolphins will take a DT at 9, and i hope thay dont, this may start the slide for branch, kiper had him sliding already, if adams fell and quin and landry are gone adams would work for me, thanks for the news
Especially with Vickerson, Wright, and Traylor around, I don't think we will take a DT either.

what about fred evans he is defenitly going to be in the mix

I agree. Say no to Branch. I just have one question to all of you guys. Let me know if I am on the right track here........ with Porter and Taylor rushing the QB and making him make rushed passes, to go along with us being very good in stopping the run, I think Laron Landry would be HUGE for us. The QB would always have Laron's name in the back of his mind, causing him to throw the ball to the outside. These passes, when rushed, are very hard to complete because they need to have pinpoint accuracy. This is hard to accomplish when you are being rushed by the two beastly outside LB's. So with Branch falling in stock, Quinn not being there at 9, I want Laron!!

DT's are a risk in the early part of the draft. These big, fat pluggers always seem to have a reputation for being out of shape and lazy.
Many good DT's can be found in the middle rounds. It's the athletic pass rushers that are at a premium, that's why they get drafted high.

If Quinn doesn't fall to us, I sure hope Landry is available. He will be an impact player for he combines instincts for the position with great speed and athleticism. Some mocks have the Vikings taking him. I hope not.
