Billy Turner was the LT out of North Dakota State. He was drafted by Hickey. Who was not a bad talent evaluator. We selected James in the first round then traded back in the second to select Jarvis Landry. Many NFL and college scouts believed he is best suited to play LT in the NFL but needs some time to develop. With proper training, diet, and the correct coaching staff he can be a pretty decent left tackle in the NFL.

We all know our past coaching staff was not the best, heck our o-line was horrid. They couldn't develop anyone on the o-line. They thought it would be wise to put Pouncey at RG, he struggled mightily and the coaching staff kept him there through out the remainder of the season. Everyone who has common sense knew he was playing out of position but Pouncey told the press thats the position the coaches wanted me to play and that is where I will play. Mike Pouncey is a team player. Our new coach Adam Gase has a brilliant mind for the game that's what Peyton Manning said. If one of the greatest QB's to ever play the game tells you, you have a brilliant mind, there is no BS there.

Billy Turner was very weak last year playing RG. Coach Gase said he wants his lineman strong and to work extremely hard in the weight room. If Billy Turner excelled at LT in college, he can in the NFL. Coach Gase will get the best out of his players and that is a fact. Look to what he did to Jay cutler last year. Billy Turner has the quickness to get to the second level (the LB's) to open up running lanes that is one job a decent LT can do. His pass protection wasn't that great last year. Suh could just push him around with ease. If Billy Turner can hold the block against Suh he can be a good o-linemen. He couldn't because he simply lacked strength. If Billy can get stronger this offseason and be properly coached up by Gase and his team, why not give him a shot in the preseason to see what he's made out of?

They gave that position last year to Dallas Thomas the reserved LT spot. I never say that name three times in a row it will bring negative energy. Billy Turner > Dallas Thomas, its so simple we all know it. Why not give Billy the opportunity instead of Dallas. Can you get any worse then Dallas Thomas?

One of these days we will stop half assing the Oline and fix it properly. This would be more of the same

Yes Turner was a good LT at a bad college level and I like the player, but thst does not make him a starting NFL LT

Let's start now by not half assing the o-line, Gase is a no BS type coach. It's his way or the highway. It just baffles me the past coaching staff put Dallas Thomas at reserved LT.

I think it's way too early to say Turner can't be a solid guard or tackle in the NFL. Last season was Turner's first real NFL experience and while he struggled at times this league is full of players that struggled during their first season of action and got better with experience.

People here praise Evan Mathis for his play over the past five or six years, but don't remember he didn't look like anything special when he was with the Dolphins early in his career. Sometimes it takes a few years of coaching and experience to bring out a players best.

You do know that North Dakota St never lost to a Div. 1 school during Turner's career don't you? Not exactly a bad college level. Ask Kansas St head coach when the Bison clocked them in their house. Not saying Turner can or can't play tackle in the NFL, but just not buying the competition stuff anymore, especially since he's been in the NFL for two years now. As we all know, coaching was very suspect the last years, maybe he wasn't used properly. Wouldn't be the first player they messed up.

I re-watched the youtube videos "Driven" by Billy Turner. If he is driven, this is the perfect time to step up. Failure is not an option anymore i'm tired of watching the Dolpins be medicore. There is nothing fun about being average. "To be the best and stay there sweat is necessary" - Ray Lewis

Billy Turner is in over his head at this level - at any position.

The kid is a talented mold of clay. Raw technique but man he's strong and can move like a deer. I feel like the weakest part of our offensive line these past 2 years have been mental, almost like their heads aren't always in the game.

Albert is a MUCH better LT option, but Turner could be really good guard for us. Like to get him some better coaching and see what the results show this year.

Our past coaches never motivated our players. Phibin never had control of the locker room. Gase commands respect. He has to because he desperately wants to win a Superbowl.

So far, Turner has proved to be nothing more than Thomas 2.0.

Billy Turner doesn't get overpowered at the line like Dallas Thomas does. A lot of that is terrible technique from Dallas, but the rest is just a lack of strength and overall lack of ability to play guard at this level. Not really sure much can be done, but would love for Gase to either enhance or expose what the previous staff saw in him.

I think all the fans here beg to differ. You never see Billy Tuner get bull rushed by a Cowboy in the preseason. Cough cough Dallas Thomas.

First thing, paragraph breaks bro. It will lead to more people reading your post, trust me.

Second thing, the best pass protector on a team is typically put at LT. They protect the blind side of right handed QB's. So, most OL that come from college played LT on their teams. This same philosophy is used in the NFL. That is why LT's make sooooo much more money than other OL.

Third thing, Turner has the tools to play there, but not the technique. He is still quite raw. If we put him there now it will lead to a lot of hard blind side hits on Tannehill. IMHO, that is why we acquired Bushrod, to be a mediocre LT when Albert gets injured. And he will not be great but he will be twice as good as Turner will be this year.

Hopefully Turner improves his technique dramatically and makes this a discussion topic next year ... but he is still a very long way away from competency at LT. But, Turner does have potential.
