The cap hit this year is great then it obviously increases from there. Leaves us still plenty of room for is year. I know there is a lot of people not happy with this signing but I am thrilled to have him on the OL blocking Tannehills blind side.

RT @TomPelissero Sorry, those were Branden Albert's base salaries. Cap numbers are: $4.225M in '14, $10.725M in '15, $10.015M in '15 ...

Branden Albert got an $8.5M signing bonus on his deal with #Dolphins. Makes $11.025M in the first year. Total: 5 years, $47M.

I figured we wouldn't finally front load a contract...love Dawn's work but this to me was an unnecessary risk...would've liked to see this front loaded and gives us a bit more of an out after year 2.

Seems like the standard Aponte blanket contract. Everyone should be used to seeing deals structured this way by now.

PS - front loading and back loading makes no difference now, especially with the cap rolling over. The cap is no longer "use it or lose it". The only thing that matters now is total guaranteed money, and how many years the signing bonus is spread over.

Pro Bowl LT who is one of the nest pass protectors in he NFL. He plays hurt but when Healthy he is top 20 OT.

Completely agree(save for the Dawn part).

It makes absolutely no sense that we arent front loading these things when we have a quarterback on a rookie contract. If this sort of **** keeps happening we could find ourselves in a nasty situation when we have to extend Tannehill. Baffling decision.

I like Albert, but those numbers are very high IMHO. For a guy who has a house right down the road, and wasn't going back to KC, we sure did pay a premium. Hopefully we pick up someone like James Hurst in the draft who can cover if Albert gets injured and eventually take over.

Wow, painful to actually see the numbers... happy we got him, but dayum

Good cap hit for this season. Even after signing Albert, Delmas and the expected signing of Mitchell, we will probably still have over $30 million in cap space. Impressive.

And if we had paid him less what you could eat out more often? Who cares if it's who they wanted and our cap is still in great shape.

You have to realize that if we draft a tackle an develop even in his older years Albert can step inside and be a solid gaurs for us which was the position he played in college.

Yea because oline was not an issue for the Fins.

In what way could you possibly take what I said like that....front loading the contract only would change the cap years. We have a QB that may be commanding top # and with most of the top FA's coming off the board we have more than enough room this year that we can take a big hit. It makes no sense. But ya totally misconstrue what I said.

a 10m/year guard?

Regarding the front loading of contracts, how does that save us later? The cap rolls over. A lower contract this year means more cap available next year. Although the base salary will be higher next year, the available cap space will also be higher. The use it or lose it days of cap have gone.

Looks like a 3 year deal to me. Can cut him after three seasons and hopefully find his replacement by then.
Wallace's deal will be fairly easy to get out of in two more years so Miami is in great cap shape if you ask me.
