Brandon Carr

You never know...but I could see Carr getting a big time deal somewhere...I would not mind seeing him in a Miami uniform..Your gonna see a ton of posts from ppl saying that Smith cant play FS but its doable...I also wonder if Miami is going to be playing more zone looks or more man looks under Coyle? I would expect it to me more zone and Smith is not great in off coverage..Vontae either for that matter.

I think this would be a nice addition. I do think Smith could be decent at FS, although tackling has'nt been as strength for him. As stated by the former poster, a move to a off coverage defense would likely not be positive for any of our corners. We'll just have to see how our coaches play this one out.

I would rather have Aaron Ross from giants he plays in the slot is a veteran and can play on outside as well when needed..... vontae and Smith on outside with Ross in the slot I'd be happy with that

Ross would be a good addition as well. I think Carr has more upside, but Ross would be cheaper and would make us stronger.

Thankfully, free safeties are more prone to coverage while strong safeties need more tackling skills. You wouldn't call Ed Reed a prolific tackler. No, I'm not comparing Smith to Ed Reed. Just making an observation.

Smith would have to work hard if he were moved to free safety. Not sure how tough the transition would be for him.

what about smith in the slot and get finnegan? Smiths so big he can take that space away from the wr's and just blanket them. I also like when we have smith on athletic TE's as its the best option i think we have for the moment

I'd love to get Brandon Carr, but I have a feeling if the Raiders were willing to overpay for Routt then they are going to be willing to overpay for Carr.

But I'd love to have him at the right price.

Id take him for sure...but he will have many suitors and I don't think wed have the cap room to compete. To me this is a luxury...we need a pass rusher and a qb b4 we get a corner.

You, wouldn't call Ed Reed a prolific tackler, but I think the MAJORITY of others would. The man is as solid all around as Free Safetys go. Before Sean Taylor died, they were known as the hardest hitting safeties in the game.

I mean there is a reason why Bill Billicheat is the "president of the Ed Reed fan club" and that Tom Brady says he locates where Reed is before every single play.

Belichick has a meeting for quarterbacks each week. We go over the strengths and weaknesses of opponents. Ed has no weak points.”

i HATE the smith to safety speculation, just because of his height. the guy is a press corner born to play on the boundary

Smith drops to many interceptions. By bringing in a better corner, I am not sure if Smith would have any role except at back up CB. Maybe he could be traded?
