I've read that a lot of you are expecting to see Brandon London having a breakout year in 09, but apparently Anthony Armstrong is pushing him pretty hard. Sounds like the kid might need to get his act together to even make the squad. Thoughts?

Sparano said WR cuts will be one of hardest decisions to make with this roster. Yesterday he said team can keep six on 53. Armstrong is pushing Brandon London, who Sparano advised needs to focus on "his role."

Hard to say. Armstrong definitely looks like the 6th receiver right now, but London contributes on special teams quite a bit and I haven't heard much about Armstrong playing ST. London doesn't look like he has improved that much in the receiving department.

London is probably out the door if Anthony can show some playmaking ability on ST.

Also, interestingly enough, London can't be stashed on the practice squad since he's spent a considerable amount of time on the active roster - so he'd head to the waiver wire. Armstrong I believe could be put on the practice squad safely. I doubt this would factor into any roster decisions though.

London's role on this team is as a special teams players. He's not going to be one of the 5 or 6 WR's that make this team. He's going to be one of the 3 or 4 special teams players that make the team.

The team signed him to a new deal just after the season, so he'd have to suck on special teams hard not to make the team.

he was given the minimum and if he is not one of the 5 or 6 receivers that make the team we are no going to keep a seventh receiver for special teams.

Armsrtong has looked great in Shortsand Tshirts. Lets wait to the Pads come on.

Pretty much agree with whats been said.

London is a special teams standout plus he has potential to be a good WR with Size speed good hands........ The only way armstrong beats him for the job is if he plays lights out.

Anybody noticed the special teams coverage unit was really bad last year. Note that ever since we signed london the special teams unit started playing much better.

Im not saying he is a one man team , im not, but he is in on almost every tackle. Gives all he has on special teams. He is a keeper based on special teams play and potential.

i think london makes the team he is very good at special teams and has potential to be a solid receiver

I feel Walden was more influential in turner our ST's around last season. London, though, would likely be missed. I do wonder if the FO would be less weary of cutting London with the addition of Hartline, who is supposed to be quite good on ST's - and faster than London.

Teams keep players as special teams players "only" every year, that why he came here in the 1st place.Just like Walden.

London is a special teamer, and IMHO if he doesn't perform as well as he should he still has an advantage over Armstrong, especially since Armstrong could be stashed on the PS another year.

The good news is this year there are a number of players who are going to get cut that we’d rather keep – so the depth is really filling out. I think we’ll keep the best players all in all, and that’s not a safety net for London. We’re also going to lose some talent at OLB and DL and DB as well. Right now it’s impossible to trim to 53 and not feel regret in a number of positional places --- barring injuries we’ll have to release 5 or 6 guys (maybe more) who are good enough to make it IMO.

As everyone is saying – it’s going to be a very competitive training camp and plenty of motivation for the preseason games.
