But hey it was, you know, like Dick Butkus used to say, a league game:

Top LB to sit for half… Florida MLB Brandon Spikes one of the top 1-2 prospects at the position for the 2010 draft, has been suspended for the first half of Saturday's game against Vanderbilt after he apparently attempted to gouge the eyes of a Georgia player in last week’s game.

What Gator fan are you referring to?

oh come on. yeah, it was a weak *** move on spikes' part. but if you guys know anything about the guy - dirty football (usually) isn't his game. don't define the guy on an eye gouge and don't act like **** like that doesn't happen ALL THE TIME in football.

That should never happen. Sticking your hand in a guy's facemask to get your fingers in his eyeballs is just wrong. Maybe if he popped out his eyeball he's be suspended for a full game, not just a half. Actually if that happened he probably be in jail now for assault. That being said, Spikes is a heck of a player.

yeah, i know. that was like bill romanowski dirty. the guy has never done anything like that before and - fingers crossed - won't do anything like that again. it was not a move indicative of who he is/how he plays. it was extremely out of character for him and i can only assume that's the last we'll see of 'dirty football' by spikes.

You got that right. there is no place for that in football ,period. Just like when i beleive it was Haynesworth when he was on tenn cleateing that guy on Dallas. If that happen to a dolphin player every 1 on here would be up in arms but because he is a Uf player it is ok i suppose.

it's not okay for anyone ever (unless it's brady - but that goes without saying ). and i'm not trying to make excuses - all i can say is in the 4 years that i've watched him play - very intently might i add - he's never done anything even remotely like that. no off the field issues either - much unlike many of his teammates. just hoping he feels like a total assjack for doing it and that he'll learn from his mistake.
