Breakdown of the Dolphin receivers

Davone Bess has been the only consistent reliable WR we have. Camarillo and TE Fasano have yet to show up this season. I wish Brian Hartline could be included more so he can show his ability.

Funny how the WR's in Chicago seem to be doing well, same with the Vikings, SF, NYJ, NYG, Balt, they all have WR cores that are nothing special. Baltimore used to blame the fact that they had no WR's until Flacco has lit it up this year.

Saying the Bears have no one special at receiver is funny...they have two receivers I wish the Dolphins had...Hester and Knox..and not to forget their TE's Clark and Olsen.

The Vikes have B. Berrian and Rice and Harvin...and we must not forget their TE Shiancoe.

San Fran has Bruce and a TE named Davis.

Baltimore has Clayton and Mason...and a TE named Heap.

The Giants have S. Smith, Manningham...Nicks...S. Moss and a TE named Boss.

Screw the Jets...they are doing it with Mirrors...

This is the same WR and TE corp (for the most part) that caught for 3600+ yards last year. Defenses had a whole offseason to study our pass game and break it down. With a QB who can take a shot down field, look for some deep outs and deep comebacks that can help stretch a D a little. But mostly, the running game will help Henne the most.

A good/great/elite receiver would ONLY help. Our receiving corps could be very awesome if we had Manning, Rivers, Brady, etc. at QB. Instead, we have a young, inexperienced QB who is likely to struggle at first. A reliable playmaker would only help his development. Flacco is the only guy I can think of who's succeeding with a lousy WR corps, but Mason and Clayton are still pretty decent. Every other successful young QB has had at least one really good target to throw to, even if the rest of the receiver corps stinks. In other words, the highest talent level of your receiving corps is more important than the depth, IMHO, for the development of a young QB.

Ryan - White
Rodgers - Jennings + Driver
Sanchez - Cotchery (he's not all that, but he'd be an upgrade to us, wouldn't he??)
Rivers - Gates + Jackson
E. Manning - Burress

All these WR's have not scared anyone until Cutler showed up, Olson was there with Orten and did nothing. The NYG WR's don't strike fear in anyone, their just a decent group. Heap has always been hurt outside his rookie year, Clayton hasn't done much and Mason is real solid but again they all did nothing to help Baltimore until Flacco. SF has Bruce but is he anything even close to Bruce of old? Davis is so inconsistent and has need M.S foot in his rear. Harvin hasn't really done anything as a WR yet, Shiancoe is looking good because Farve loves his TE's.

My point being is your telling me these are really good groups of WR's yet majority of them did nothing until a real good QB showed up. Nobody would really wanted them while Orten, Jackson and even the late McNair we're their QB's. If Henne can do well the wr core will look good, of course if they drop passes all the time there's not much Henne can do about it.

I think our group of WR's and TE compare well to the NYG, their run game helps them out a great deal but the difference is Manning spreads the ball around and delivers all the throws well. If Henne can have time he too can make all the throws and spread it all around.

i agree 100%, the best example of this is in our own division..Granted Tom Brady is one hell of a QB, but look at the crop of receivers he had before welker and moss..givens, patton,branch..etc how good did those guys look? pretty good with brady!..what happened when the went to other teams? To me it's more vital to have a good QB. Given enough time any good QB will find some crack in a secondary, IMO a decent receiver just makes the crack more obvious! D.mason is a good example he was always a "decent" receiver but with flacco, the guys down-right scary on deep routes! outside of a few elite receivers does anyone really think our receiving corps is light years behind any other? of course not, this is the nfl! it's all about consistency and opportunity, if ginn consistently catches the ball and the opportunity of the ball being thrown his way then he doesn't look so bad all of a sudden, same with the rest of the receiving group. Look at it this way how would this group look with Brady or manning or brees, i doubt we would be calling for upgrading the receiving group!

Thats why i'm excited about henne he has the physical tools to expose those little "cracks" that our decent receivers can create!( that's the thing about Pennington, he couldn't take advantage of those little cracks!he needed big cracks(created by elite receivers) to compensate for the tools he had. look at any elite QB, thats what makes them successful!(making any throw!)) of course, big time receivers can create bigger cracks.. ultimately we don't know if henne has the mental tools...we'll soon see and as a dolfan..u have to admit your kinda excited to see what happens with the kid! i know i can't wait for the next couple of games.. i expect alot of mistakes and expect to see alot of throws that we haven't seen in a long time....

As much as I liked Chad, our QB was and always has been the problem.

I have been pleasantly surprised this year by Hartline, and not to mention Bess and Camarillo have both been surprises in the past. Ginn can be good, but his true value always lied in something Chad couldn't do and that was deep.

These WRs can get the job done. We just need a better QB.

3rdandinches is right. All those teams were regarded as having poor receivers UNTIL they got a QB. You might as well throw in more examples, like how the Falcons wide outs were suddenly good when the transition from Vick to Ryan was made or how a bunch of no name receivers became free agent stars when they won Superbowls with Brady.

horrible article...

everyone knows the QB makes the WR not vice versa... a great WR on any team does not just equal success... see Randy Moss in oakland, TO in buffalo, etc...

meanwhile teams like the Giants, Saints, Colts can take any WR and he'll look good...

What I'm telling you is their WR's and TE's are better than what the Dolphins have. The ONLY fast receiver the Dolphins have is Ginn...and he's not reliable...when your team has receivers that wouldn't be nothing more than 3rd or 4th receivers on other teams...when you don't have a great TE...thats defense's respect...you don't have nothing...and I don't care what QB is throwing the football.

We don't have any Dupers...Clayton's...McDuffies...Moores or Warfields sad to say...and until we do...secondaries will play up to what you place on the field.

What? Did Griese make Warfield...or did Warfield make Griese!!
